I loudly sing the Alma Mater in the stadium because I’m proud to have gone to LSU

I went there for 8 years and I’ve never even read the words. I was ‘92-00…when was this a thing? I went to every game…and just simply don’t remember ever even being there when it was sung. Guess I was just super wasted.

I was born in BR but I’ve been in Georgia 30 years now. Never went to LSU but I’m a diehard LSU fan no matter what anyone says. It’s in my blood.

Les Miles started it in his first year I think, so you missed it as a student. It’s a good addition to the pregame routine.

Never really cared. Just rep the school and the teams in a positive light and you’re just as much of a tiger.

Of course you’re worthy of being a fan. Not nearly all of the 105,000 folks in Tiger Stadium are graduates. LSU is the flagship university of Louisiana and most folks follow it for that very reason.

I never played for the New Orleans saints and I am a fan!

I say all of this because…. I was never a student or athlete at LSU. But I’ve been a fan for life and have deep ties to LSU. Am I not worthy of being a fan?
of course. Your fandom is accepted. But going to the school gives a little extra meaning. I didn’t go to LSU. I am a fan, but the college experience while there adds something that I missed. Not a big deal but that’s how I feel about it

The majority of fans for big time schools did not go to school there.
It’s a stupid way to classify and put fans against each other. We’re all cheering for the same school, idc where you went to school or didn’t go- you can be a fan of whoever.
My opinion as an alumni

Yes! Many share your story.

God didn’t give me the talent to play ball at LSU, but still played and went to a smaller school.

You should ask those losers if they’re Saints fans. If they say yes, ask them if they ever worked for the Saints or had any other tie to their organization.

Imagine the money LSU has received by people that never attended.

A lot of older Braves fans in La aren’t fans because of the fact that they have been one of the top teams in baseball for the last 30 years. Obviously there are some.

Of course, what I was referencing was prior to cable being brought to La. “Older” is a point of reference now isn’t it?
Before cable, all you had was Sunday baseball once in a while and the WS with Yankees and Dodgers regularly challenging each other.

Got my undergrad in Texas, but always wanted to have a LSU degree and be in BR. My brother was able to get into LSU law school and invited me to come down to games. One game at Death Valley and I was hooked. I moved there after quitting my job in Texas and started doing consulting work in New Orleans. Went to one grad class at LSU. Ended up moving back to Texas for money reasons. I stayed glued to anything involving LSU. Fast forward 2020, COVID hit and I decided to finish my MBA at LSU. I am so proud of being a Tiger on paper, but my years of being a non-grad and “fan” were just as rewarding.

You are worthy my friend. I took some summer courses at LSU while in HS. I became a fan because of my older brother attending LSU visiting him hanging on campus. Some fans just like rooting for the home state.

They're too stupid to know if LSU depended on just graduates to be fans they would suck at everything!

I went to USL for 3 semesters play on the JV Baseball team or whatever Didier called us. But I wear LSU gear and went to 100’s of games, before I moved out of state. I watch every LSU game I can and go back home and catch game’s every couple of years

i didn’t grow up an lsu fan

my family had 0 affiliation with the school and we lived 1400 miles away from BR

i just remember catching their games on espn in the early 90s and being blown away

loved the colors and the stadium had an aura about it

first game i remember on tv was at auburn when the fire broke outside the stadium

i’ve been glued ever since

Coming out of high school, I had already been a diehard fan for 8-9 years. To the point, at 12 yrs old I was banished to the car in the driveway to listen to games on the radio as, in a fit of rage during the '79 USC game, I threw my transistor radio across my bedroom, causing it to give up the will to work.

If for some reason I had not started LSU that fall and went on to graduate, I cant imagine my non-sensical and somewhat maniacal fandom would have ceased to exist.
