I really think that this will be the most talented team overall that Kelly has fielded - especially on defense and in terms of overall depth. And I don't really even think that is debatable.

However two things concern me:

1) the Offensive line - I think by the end of the year it may be better than last year's but the lack of experience and of playing together as a unit might make the start of the season pretty rough for them, especially against what is probably Clemson's strength, their D-line.

2) Lot's of transfers, talented yes but how will they mesh and how will some handle not playing as much as they thought and can the staff keep that to a minimum and get them to buy in.

Ole Miss may have had the most talented roster in the SEC last year but they lost to us, Kentuck and Florida. Never know how that dynamic will work.

But it's Kelly's job to make it so - so no more excuses - he's got a talented enough roster to make the playoff - it's time BK.

They absolutely have to beat Clemson to set the tone for the rest of the year. If we lose, it would destroy fan morale moving forward. I know we have a young OL, but no excuses this year. This is it.

We unfortunately picked the one fricking team that has a great returning QB to be our opener....at Clemson

We’ve sort of been unfortunate with FSU (both seasons) & USC too

FSU had 2 good teams when we played em and crap before & after

May have to be the fans who lift us past UF. Either win or lose that first game…game 3 is the one to set the tone…either rolling very close to #1 in the country at 3-0, or holy hell WTF at 1-2.

1. He keeps scheduling our home/away series with us going on the road first. It backfired against Texas with them never visiting us. What if Clemson joined the SEC and canceled their return trip? Very real possibility that should have been factored in. Also, LSU is a bigger brand and so should have demanded Clemson visit us first.

2. We are 0-4 in our opening OOC games. At some point, it becomes a correlation. Why are we playing these week 1 and not week 2?

3. He’s not good at picking brands that would draw eye balls without being 50/50 odds of losing. We should be scheduling games against the caliber of team like Virginia Tech, Arizona, Minnesota, Duke, Kansas Stare, etc.

How would you suggest Verge is good at his job?

Probably not good when your WRs are getting sent to the hospital

3-4 losses min.

Not a Kelly fan. I just don’t see the mindset with his teams that go after Championships.

Could be wrong but his body of work at ND and so far after 4 in BR tells me this.

Mindset is set by the coach(es) and then instilled in the players.

How do you know their mindset?

10-2 , 11-1 .. Offense struggles in first few games but gets going around week 4 and defense takes a step up this season . 3 or more losses and I think BK is on the hot seat . This probably one of the most complete rosters he’s had

Well that's just not true. FSU had to come to Louisiana first. Wisconsin had to come down south first. For future series, SMU has to come to LSU first. Arizona State has to come to LSU first as well.

Is this a Verge problem or a team not being prepared problem? Also, we played Texas week 2, UCLA week 4.

Lmao what? Our future OOC opponents are Houston, SMU, Arizona St, Utah. You think those are 50/50 games? Past OOC opponents include USC (6-6), UCLA (8-4), Texas (7-5), Miami (7-5), BYU (4-9)

I don't know what all of his responsibilities are so I can't really comment on that. I'd imagine he does more than schedule the OOC games for the year.

Let’s just put it this way. I’d be shocked if they are anything less than 11-2

The roster is too talented and Kelly is too proven for it to even be less than 11-2.

Barring freak injuries to key players I just can’t think of an excuse to lose more than 2 games. It would be damn near close to grounds to firing Kelly and promoting someone else on the staff to drive the ship.

LSU has proven time and time again that the HC can be a nameless faceless person and they will still be relevant and or win a championship. I just refuse to buy that whole “Kelly isn’t a good coach” schtick. The guy has all the accolades to prove he’s good enough for LSU. The only thing left is a championship. Plain and simple.

This could be it for Kelly. He’s older and who knows if he’ll have another situation like this with a veteran QB and loaded roster. The window is now for him. No more building it’s all in.
