Unfortunately, they don't play "most everyone else" in the SEC

I do believe NFL jobs come with a pension plan as well.

You are so right....the college game is essentially being destroyed and it all started with the media and cohorts forcing a change in the national championships followed by the egregious money issue for players. It's been in a downward spiral since and no end in sight. Now there are two super conferences calling for more expansion plus expanded playoff all capped off with out of control, unregulated NIL and free agency. Next the pro teams will "adopt" a college(s) as a farm team and supply capital To the players as future captive draft choices. There is really no end to the money train and where it can take college sport. The end result...who gives a rats arse about
the institution including the athletes.

Right but if you’re picking between a fringe championship contender and the shitty Saints where coaching staff turnover is almost every year when you suck, I’m probably rolling with LSU

This is only the case from a fans point of view where all you care about is winning championships. If you're an assistant coach and it's your job to coach, you have to think about a lot of other stuff like your day-to-day, how much you're paid (taking care of your family), how much time you get to spend at home, how much you enjoy the tasks you have to do (a lot more recruiting than actual coaching in college). Yes championships still matter to coaches but probably a lot less than they do to you in the grand scheme. It's their whole life, I can't blame them for taking more money or doing something that is less stressful or more enjoyable for them.

Counter point. In college, you can buy a way better roster than most everyone else right now. Coaching with a way better roster probably way better.

Not half as relevant to a d line coach as the portal.

On no planet is an NCAA DL better than an NFL DL.

And on no planet is a college DL competing against a NFL DL. On this planet top colleges can have much greater talent then the other college teams they compete against

I would agree….. NFL coaching is more attractive than college coaching.

You are paying college players now…
So you gotta pay the college coaches too !!

and likely get paid the same or better as a position coach.
This is 100% false

Bo Davis made 1.25 million a year here. He won’t sniff anywhere near that in the nfl

NIL’s gonna even that out at least among conferences…
