Actually, that's the first thought that came to mind when I heard of the Smith suspension from the NCAA. This is the same body that looks the other way when boosters from Bama and A&M actively recruit from active rosters of college teams for transfers. I guess this is their way of showing they are still "in control" of college athletics.
So, I say this could be a spark, because think about it. I am sure the Tigers are really pissed about this decision and if anything, will have even more focus! I think they were already hyped about this game to make up for last year, but now consider this. Don't you think the offense will be even more focused to keep the FSU offense off the field? Don't you think the defense on every play will be focused on getting FSU off the field?
This is really a petty call by the NCAA and given the uncontrolled NIL process and no control by NCAA, I am really perplexed by the decision.
But, this could come back to really help LSU focus, if that is even possible, for this game! Nothing like an issue like this to make a difference! If I was a Tiger player, I would be pissed and even more motivated....ONE MAN'S OPINION!

You can spin this any way you need to. Whenever you lose one of your better defensive lineman, it's never a good thing.
Now, whether that plays a major role or not if LSU happens to lose the game will be determined next Sunday.

Nope, NEVER a good thing to lose a star...all I am saying is the Tigers will try to compensate on every play and this will always be on their minds during the game...so, I hate this decision, and it is major...but, don't for a second think that additional motivation won't play a factor! I still think LSU will kick their butts!

Add the fact that Smith would subconsciously be testing out his knee, I think it could be a blessing in disguise.

If LSU is to gain the national adoration it has ALWAYS seen as a challenge, the program must win - even with special players not playing. If a nearly 2 deep DL can’t beat FSU while Smith is out, then, well …… let the excuses begin

I think the offense was already going to di their best to score and the defense was already going to do everything they can to stop FSU.....
I dont think this has any effect on LSU, other than removing their best Defensive lineman.

I don't understand the fan need to pump up in case they call you out the stands to play or something.
I do understand getting up for the game, but like... Coming up with locker room strategy doesn't compute, nor does "wall of text" about it

There's exactly 1 player that comes in with extra motivation, and that's the dude replacing Smith. Everyone else is trying to do their job and play within themselves. That Motivation will last 1 maybe 2 plays, and then training, repetition, and conditioning kick in.

If a player can't get up for the first game of the season without some extra outside motivation against, especially against a top 10 team, they don't deserve to be playing for LSU.
