If I was J I would tell York, we gonna put you on a program to lose 50 pounds ASAP, you will only take batting practice and run the bases .when you get in shape and can hit consistently ,you'll be able to play in the sec...If you want to work we have a place for you, we need you but you have work to do if you want to play

Serna needs to catch, put Braun and Yamin at 1st/DH.

What I don't like about this move is if Serna struggles at 1B you're going to have to take out one of your hotter bats recently in the lineup. Hopefully he's okay there. Maybe they continue to do heavy shifts with Mlam over there so it doesn't matter as much.

Not that the fans had anything to do with it. Just Yorke with how terrible he is. But hell yea we're happy!

You’re correct but doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to, you see it all the time in pro ball older players moving to 1st

Yorke will continue to get to play first during the season. He's struggling right now. But he's a good player we're gonna need moving forward.

Catchers spend their whole lives training on blocking up balls and scooping them. Yes it’s different at first while standing and footwork is different but as a former 1b I think catchers with a little athletic ability should be able to move to 1st and be at least average defensively at college level. Will take more regular work on footwork and all to excel beyond that but they should be better than most at scooping up one hop throws. They do have to learn how to extend out and stretch out when needed as they are so used to just receiving the throw. Interested to see how he does. Think it’s definitely time to at least try some other options to see what we could have

Has Serna ever played 1st? They must really think they have nothing behind Yorke to put Serna there lol.

Lots of catchers can play 1st.

He walks a lot. He is third or fourth in obp. Can't hit, can't run and is a liability at first. His only suitable position is DH or PH until he loses about 50 pounds

Anyone should be able to play first
Even though not true, since I played 1st base, I fully agree. But it helps if you're 6' 3" and have long arms

I always thought catcher and third base were similar “tough guy” positions. Give up your body, snap throws, don’t need quite as much lateral quickness just a willingness to soak up the body blows and make sharp accurate throws when needed

I don’t care if LSU has 9 catchers in the lineup as long as they can hit and score runs.

We scored 30 runs at Vandy... how did that work out. You have to pitch and play defense some too. 30 was more than enough to sweep.

The only reason his OPS is high is because he walks a lot. Not because he’s good at the plate, but because he doesn’t swing, even if it’s a strike

Walks are valuable.
