Yet another year of getting our hitting hopes up....

against a bunch of pre-conference noodle arms. Oh well...

Until Maineri gets it through his thick skull that he can't keep recruiting these 5'5" 175 pound slap hitters and start getting some guys in here that can hit breaking balls, what you see is what you're gonna get.

Enough to know they can’t hit breaking balls apparently.

Size is not an issue, nor is strength. Hitting off-speed pitches, on the other hand... Yeah, that's a bit of a problem at the moment. It's funny how "launch angle" never seems to account for actually making contact on something other than meatballs down the middle.

How many 5’5 guys are on the team? I can’t think of any

. Don’t say dumb shite like that. You could’ve left that out and made your point. It makes it sound like you haven’t seen this team

Team has plenty of power, and the HR’s speak for themselves. Experience, is greatly lacking. Pitch recognition is lacking. Just making contact and going the other way is lacking. Understanding that you have a guy on third with no outs, and getting him in.....no, but everyone is trying to win it on one swing, against pitchers that they can’t even make contact on... just rookies, they’ll grow up

Sounds like one of the poster last season who use to boast about how huge Beloso was. Never caring that every team we played was larger. It’s not everything, but it‘s a legit observation.

We’ve got some good sized kids on this team. In the past Paul didn’t want to have to break out the phone books to get eye level

These guys are outmatched on every level. Pitching also, Hill is severly overrated.

We are struggling against state for sure, and it's probably time for a change at coaching but we've been past the "little guy" team for a couple years now. He's been trying to bring in some big guys. Trouble is he can't develop most of them. We've had several big power hitting guys come through in the last few years and it looks like many of them regress as seasons go. I believe we never got to see what Cabreras true potential was, Romero was a let down, Beloso is regressing.

We appeared to change our approach at the plate this series. Not swinging at as many first pitches. I have no idea what the scouting report is on States staff, but it felt like they pumped in lots of first pitch fastballs and always for a strike. And with the kind of bullpen they have there's not a huge benefit to try and run up the pitch count and get the starter out. Their whole damn staff can deal.

Well 8 hitters in our lineup have never faced SEC pitching and in their first go at it. They’re facing one of the top staffs in the country.

That’s not to say they shouldn’t be hitting better because there is no excuse for 1 run in 18 innings but we’re not going to be the last SEC team that State shuts down.

We had 1 guy under 6 foot start yesterday. Size isn’t the issue. We have enough size.
Problem with original post is the fact we can’t hit breaking balls being a good point is lost when credibility is lost with a stupid comment on size.

Are we recruiting guys to hit non-conference pitching or SEC pitching? Last I checked, LSU plays in the SEC
