Amen. Right up there with pick billy batter's walk up song.

But, since you asked . The LSU QB throws a a pick at the Miami three yard line. The defensive back is running right and reverses his field into his end zone where Justin Jefferson tackled him for a safety.

Clyde Edward Helaire then returns the ensuing punt 82 yards and just like that LSU is up 10-0. On Miami's first series Greedy returns a pick 34 yards for a score.

The Tigers are up 17-0 within the first five minutes of the game erasing 30 years of anguish when the top ranked Hurricanes did the same thing on a stornmy December night in Tiger Stadium as Hodson struggled to throw the ball 10 yards against the 40 MPH winds.

If they do, it will be called back for sure.

Yes! 99 yard scramble by Burrow

Actually in this scenario I am left to wonder WTF happened to put us on our own one yard line. Hope it was the defense putting up one helluva goal line stand because I can’t take another year of dumbass decisions on punt returns.

Hell, if you're going to call a TD on the first drive, you might as well call a TD on the first play. The odds are not that much worse, and the outcome would be so much more glorious.

Xavier Carter style return, tackled at 1.

1st down- toss dive, no gain.
2nd down - jet sweep, no gain.
3rd down - pocket breaks down, Burrow to the house.

Missed XP, though

ETA : up 6-3, though

Yes. Burrow takes it to the house on a naked Ponamsky bootleg.

I’m gonna say that they start off the drive moving the ball and finish with a field goal by Tracy. Solid start to get the jitters out.

Neutral site
National TV
New OC
New QB
New RB
New WR’a
New C

It would not be crazy if we open up a bit conservative and try to get Burrow some confidence early on.

So I say no on first drive.

No. Many times the first offensive series is more focused on feeling the defense out. If they score, great. However, the first defensive and offensive series of a game brings a hell of a lot of info on the opponent back to the sidelines and upstairs.

Well if I base my answer on logic and data over the past decade then my answer is a resounding “Hell Nah”! shite, it’s been a crap shoot if LSU scores an opening drive TD against far less competition than Miami.

But I’ll be watching like I do every year with revitalized expectation that things will be different this go round.
