So when he went 9-9 in his last season, does that mean he had already peaked and was on tDecline??
Posted on 2/27/24 at 10:54 pm to lsu4life77
That 9-9 season was like the 5th highest seed LSU has had this millennium lol.

Too bad our coach was being investigated & couldn’t coach in the tourney

Ok Wade went 9-9 in the SEC in his last season. But he was 19-10 overall and went to the frickin big dance you moron!!!!
How can you even compare that with this 2023-24 team? Some of you never cease to amaze me with totally out of context stats.

What got your panties in a wad tonight?
Wades 2nd year was a great team, and those players were great. I enjoyed wade and his teams a lot, but why an aggressive thread late Tuesday night after a win?

Overachieving, really if he could coach they would have 4 more wins and 4 less losses,!

Wade is a much better coach than CMM.
Maybe he is…but we shall see
Next year Wade will be at a power five program playing on equal terms now that what he was doing is legal
In my opinion Wade was a great bag man and got players but honestly wasn’t a great coach
Time will time soon

But make no more mistakes, McMahon is not achieving anywhere close to what Wade did in his second year at LSU
I liked Wade, but Will also had the luxury of actually inheriting a few players and recruiting guys without having to combat rumors that the program was going on a long-term probation. Slightly different situations.

But he’s doing it in a short sighted way, and is not building a program. Compare this year to Wade’s second year. Wade had signed Naz Reid, Tremont Waters, Javonte and Darius Days. Then he beat 2 top 5 teams (UK and Tenn) and won the damn SEC.
Yes. One and done Naz Reid, one and done (with LSU) Kavell Bigby-Williams, and two and done Tremont Waters were the keys to a long term sustainable program

That’s a great question and here’s why:
1) Too many of the status quo LSU fans are settling for mediocrity. Woodward hired a middle of the pack guy and I understand why, so not much fault of his or even McMahons. As I said, he’s overachieving…..but short sighted via mostly senior transfers in lieu of stellar recruits.
2) Too many (likely most of the above) are discrediting Wade because he made a mistake and giving him zero credit for what the guy did. It was really so damn good and everybody loved him until….until he made his only mistake. Same mistake Bill Self and Sean Miller made, although their mistakes arguably could be worse.
And I know there are extenuating circumstances of why Wade was fired, ie football program investigation considerations, and likely others that we don’t know. But Wade needs to get credit for what he did for LSU hoops….at least balanced with the criticism for his mistake. And if LSU fans want a tier 1 basketball program, we need a coach more like Will Wade.

There's no way this isn't a troll. No way.

He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. There is no satisfying some of you.
You Wade cocksuckers might be the most pathetic people on the planet.

You don’t think they are keeping an eye on LSU basketball recruiting right now. They are under a microscope. There’s no frickery going around right now. We can’t score top 50 type talent. CWW had studs because of the way he recruited, which was like everyone else at that time. LSU men’s basketball has a big scarlet red letter that we have to wear around for the next few years. I’d say it’s hard to say who is the “better” coach. McMahon is doing well for having almost zero talent. Wade had some boys on the team. Time will tell.

ie, he’s doing it with senior and post grad transfers instead of stellar recruiting classes like Wade did.
He came here with no scholarship players, has had one recruiting cycle and that was with a scholarship restriction.
Don't be dumb.

Wade was 9-9 his last year in conference
You fricks act as if he was coach K.

Doesn’t fricking matter. Wade ain’t here.

But he was 19-10 overall and went to the NCAA tournament. Wtf cares what his SEC record was if he got us to The Dance?

Yes he will be in a Power 5 job next season, which supports my position. And he may be at an SEC program a couple of States over.
A HC doesn’t need to be “a great coach” to be successful. He needs to be a damn good CEO, ie recruit good players, good assistants, and gel and motivate them as a team. That’s Will Wade in a nutshell.
