It is 11 games into the season and receivers are still not up to snuff for a Division I, SEC, school. If they work 90% on blocking or what-have-you at practice and not catching the ball, should not a coach, on staff, ooooooooooooooooh, I don't know.....ADJUST the practice schedule so that they learn to catch and hold onto the ball?
Agree 100%. As has been the case so many times with LSU, the problem lies with coaching much more so than talent. Is he such a valuable recruiter that he can't be replaced?

Yep. LSU has the bad luck to recruit shitty QBs, WRs, O- linemen, but good defensive players. Funny how that happens huh?

How many other SEC or Power 5 teams have the problems with drops that LSU has? I do not know, but the answer is probably very few. Could it have something to do with coaching?

know people here will just call me out for making excuses, but the WR corps is insanely young. This isn’t the first time LSU had problems with young players dropping balls. Then turn out to be excellent players later in their career.
We've had plenty of young WRs in the past and I never recall a group this poor at catching the ball.

Ole Miss receivers ×2 better

If my best physical attributes were height and large hands, then if I wanted to be an above average option I would make myself into a catching machine. As in anything within reach is my ball, not a DBs. Some of these guys need to develop much tougher mindsets to get where they should be.

90% of a WR's responsibility is blocking and decoy routes. A WR is lucky to get 20 balls thrown to him in the average weekday practice.
I remember a tweet afew yrs back where Jarvis Landry was working late at the indoor practice facility one night with his GF feedin the Jugs machine for him. It all goes for personal effort

At one point Moffitt had both Juice and OBJ on the juggs machine every morning. At least 100 balls. Had to be S&C staff to get around NCAA practice limits... it was 'voluntary'.

Looks like Jarvis will earn 21.5 million in 2018. That personal work effort didn't hurt him any.

We have had drop issues for awhile. We have also, had problems creating separation against good defenses for several years. Some is the O line in ability to protect. That takes a bunch of the playbook off the table. Bama for example always has someone coming open late. Even Arkansas hit some deep crossing routes against us. You cannot do that without a lot of time.

The main issue with the WRs seem to be that when the ball hits them in the hands, they drop it.

Every single WR on the roster was a 4 or 5 star
Not responding to TigerJeff except to correct a mis-stated fact. Jefferson was a 3-star.
My opinion: Jefferson was a 3-star, but worked his arse off to become our most consistent receiver, despite a few drops last week. Catching and route-running are skills that improve with work over time. (Think back to LaFell and Doucet having the dropsies in their early careers at LSU.) The Freshman 5*s haven't had enough balls their way for us to make a decision.

Can you have a discussion?
You said our WR corps is "young" - only a few players in it are really young.
And what was the first thing you brought up?
BAMA.
Newsflash. LSU isn’t BAMA. No one is BAMA right now so don’t give me the crap “oh if we don’t compare ourselves to BAMA then we will never get there.” NO ONE can compare themselves to BAMA. They’re on a once in a generation run. Sorry if you don’t agree with that but LSU isn’t the only team with holes that needs to be fixed
People want to be on a run that BAMA is on right now and if LSU isn’t, then everything is a disappointment. Got news for you all. No one is going to be able to match what they’re doing right now.

Hard to discipline a WR corps when you’re old enough to have taught Knute Rockne how to throw the forward pass! Sullivan must go
