There’s multiple aspects to this type of performance. You have the live sound for the audience, the monitor mix for the musicians, and then the tv feed. Whomever was in charge of the matrix mix, or specifically the tv feed’s mix, did a terrible job. The snare and guitar were too loud and the vocals were too low. Just a terrible mix.

Never, ever go to concerts in football stadiums. The sound sux

I saw Pearl Jam at Tad Gormley, and it was bad. the accoustics will never match a concert hall or amphitheater, but very popular bands rarely play in a venue designed for concerts.

I saw them there in 96. That was the longest weekend of my life Lots of fun, though.

That was it. We showed up just in time to hear the last Ramones song. Which was perfect because the Ramones suck.

I was wrong about the year. It was 95 because we played Auburn at home that weekend. It was a fun show, even if the sound wasn’t great.

I was in TGBFTL Drumline and that Friday night before the Auburn game was Phi Boota Roota pledge night. We ran all of the freshmen around campus doing stupid shite and then partied after. The annual shot contest always took a toll. Thankfully Auburn was a night game, but it was still hard to get up the next morning.

The 95 Auburn game was the Bring Back the Magic Game. I was a junior, so that was the one that showed me what vintage Tiger Stadium was really like. The moment that last pass for Auburn hit the ground was insanity. Of course we partied more after, but held it to a few beers and bed after the previous night. I know a lot of band members who partied all night and just slept on the bus the next morning.

Every year, TGBFTL plays Pregame and Halftime at a Saints game. Of course it was that Sunday We all had to get up very early to get down to NOLA to practice in the dome before the game. They were always one of the early games and I’m pretty sure the Saints sucked that year, so none of us wanted to be there.

Because the Pearl Jam concert was in NOLA that night, I had to drive my car down so I could drive us all back that night after the show. Another reason why I took it easier after the Auburn win.

My favorite memory of the Saints game was that Tiger Band made the paper the next day, but not in a good way. We were all so wiped out from partying after the Auburn game that people brought cushions and blankets and went to sleep all over the floor on the Dome sideline where they put us during the game. A reporter took several pictures of band members sleeping and poked at the Saints for how “exiting” the game was. That didn’t go over well with the LSU Athletic Dept or Frank Wickes. We definitely heard about it the next week and the next year when we couldn’t take anything in the building with us.

Then we had the Pearl Jam show after the game and finally heading back to BR. We enjoyed it, but we were so wiped out that we barely left our seats. I didn’t get out of bed Monday until it was time for Drumline sectionals that night.

Then we hit the reset button for a new week and hit up The Tiger after for Drinkin with Lincoln. Good times.

I saw them live at a festival in 2019 and it was one of the worst live shows I have ever seen.

Love 3EB, but they are not meant for festivals or venues like Hard Rock. You gotta see them in a small local venue.

Stephen Jenkins is like 62 years old. The voice is mostly gone.
