Alabama with 2 losses was still better than Oklahoma and Ohio State in 2019. Why didn’t they go then? Four best teams, right?

They were definitely better than Oklahoma

Hmmm...seems they play the games to qualify for their conference championship game. Maybe that is why the committee has put the top 5 teams in the final ranking as the conference champions. Which is why it doesn't matter if any of those 5 would beat Georgia, because Georgia is NOT a conference champion. If we used that metric, then the games would NOT matter.

The FSU vs Bama argument is relevant because BOTH are conference champions, and they were the 2 being considered for last playoff spot.

See how utterly illogical this is?

My thing is that if this is the 4 best teams then using the logic further then Mich and Wash are the TWO best teams...

If we were in the the old BCS then would we be watching UM vs UW for the natty? I dont think so.

That comment was in reference to the FSU vs Bama comparison. Bama is the better team of the 2 right now.

The best teams are identified by being the conference champions. That is why you play the regular season, to win your conference. So, they got the 5 conference champions ranked #1-5. They got the 5 best teams at the top.

Fsu didn't get in. Travis healthy, they in. Without him nope. Told them this more deserving participation trophy logic doesn't exist in the real world. The sooner the participation trophy generation realizes this, the quicker they will stop being disappointed in life.

It's 4 best teams, not most deserving teams.

What I mean is simple.....

If you play a regular season to win a conference, then being a conference champion makes you "the best" in your conference. The 5 "best" teams are now ranked #1-5, are they not? What am I missing?

FSU should pull a 1969 LSU and turn down their bowl invitation. They’d have a lot better reason for doing so.

Absolutely agree. Not good enough for the playoffs, but good enough for the next best team?

Besides your obvious bias?

Maybe that FSU is unbeaten and Bama is not, would be my 1st guess

Georgia is NOT a conference champion. Bottom line! They are not the best in their own conference, so they cannot be ranked among "the best" according to the committee's criteria. "The best" starts with conference champions - see the current teams ranked #1-5

Or depends on which FSU team shows up...the one that had Jordan Travis and barely survived Boston College (bet you didn't know that, did you?) or either of the ones who showed up the last 2 weeks....

Oh wait, all 3 of those would lose to the Bama that we have seen the past month. I hate to say that, but it is true. And Vegas would back that up all day

You’re missing all of the years where they didn’t rank the conference champions 1-5.

24-15 is not handily. That was an ugly game by Rodemaker.

I grant you USF for Bama, which was also early in the year and they had no identity. But, since they played us, Milroe has been pretty hard to stop and their defense has gotten much better.

FSU just doesn't belong in the CFP if they don't have Travis. They are too different. If the roles were reversed for UT and FSU (Ewers were hurt 2 weeks ago and Travis had been injured and back by now), I think FSU would be in and UT out. I am not sure Murphy at QB moves the needle enough to say UT is better than FSU with Travis. May not seem fair, but I am just explaining what I see them looking at. Sucks for all involved.

Which team went undefeated against a sub .500 record? Hell, if we are going to say undefeated records should be in over 1 loss teams, let's put Liberty in and take Texas out!
