People act like this money is coming out of your wallet. Are any of you getting refunds because we saved money on Orgeron? Are you seeing less costs increases anywhere in the program? No. You arent. The money saved by going cheaper on a coach will just get spent on another sport that you probably dont give two shits about.

What they're getting is shitty concessions because Alleva figured out that they'll accept anything.

On the surface, no.

The 10 years is the kicker for me. 7 million, so what. But 10 years??

Knowing what we know now that the search was gonna be such a non search, well...maybe? We wound up with a woefully under-qualified career DL coach that pitched his deal as "I'm just gonna be a CEO type".

I want a coach.

Couldn't careless about the money per year, but the 10 years is crippling. frick that.

People talking about "salary" like it's their money. Pay top dollar. Worst case situation, you are FSU in five years and the roster is stockpiled.

I remember when fans wanted to run him out of town after the 06' Auburn game. He's a good coach but no way I would pay that for him. He's almost 99% sure to fall short of Saban level and that's the money that he is getting here. AtM is in a much more desperate position than LSU in that UT is down (ironically enough coached by the man I wanted last year) and they feel this has to be their time to make a move. LSU is not in that position - though I hated the O hire.

Yes.

Im in favor of paying for a top notch Coach.

Orgeron was the cheap option. We pay him chump change for an SEC coach and then expect championships. Dumb. 9-3 was a nice start. But any coach worth his salt could coach this years lsu team loaded with talent and nfl players to a good season. We honestly should have been 11-1 this season.

Jimbo is on the decline it seems. But regardless I'd rather LSU pay big bucks and show that we are committed to having a dominant program

Yes.

You lock him in a contract that will be middle of the road in 3 years for top coaches.

And he's a fantastic recruiter and QB developer.

Go ahead and balme that 06 Auburn games on Miles dude.

Fisher almost quit after that game, and left after 06 to be OC and Head coach in waiting at florida state.

Miles was def the one calling those alley broussard gut runs repeatedly while we lost. Post inj alley broussard also. I love Miles but that was some dumb shite

It is a huge deal, yes. But it amounts to about double what we are paying O anyway, and I think the results would be significantly better with Jimbo than with O.

In 3 years, if he isn't working out, we'd have been on the hook for 52.5 million dollars, on top of trying to find a new coach, and fans would expect another mega deal. That would have been the most ridiculous and irresponsible decision ever made by the AD. Like or not, A&M has the money to take that risk, we do not. People like to think money is no object. last year, we would have had to pay Miles' buyout and commit to $75 million dollars and 10 years. That is why we didn't sign him, and I'm ok with that. Jimbo is not Nick Saban or Urban Meyer. He is not worth that risk. You don't spend that much unless you KNOW what you're getting.

LSU arguably has been one position away from being Championship level.

QB.

Jimbo is among the best QB gurus out there.

Not to mention he is an elite recruiter.
