Smoke was also trying to play the same game after rules and bats had changed. PM ran off his four best players when he took over as well.

Runners at corners - 2 separate innings - no outs - no runs - don't situational bunt to prevent DP- YES HUGE COACHING FUBAR on CPM

The double play didn't matter. There were no outs. Most importantly, had Slaughter not acted like a complete moron, the game would have been tied.

My observations:
I will not address coaching as it is obvious that PM got the team to Omaha again... BUT attention to the "how to" needs to improve

having said that PM says that he recruits for Omaha. I have seen no evidence of such during the Fl game. Our bunting is horrible, base running is questionable and it seems as if we continuously try to hit the HR and do not play "what the field gives us".

The interference call was horrible, but having a man on 3rd w no outs and not being able to advance him is poor baseball....specially at that level

Our D let is down last night , wast it PRESSURE... who knows ? ... but even with all that, we were still in the game.

Some players seemed to be more concerned with "their looks" than their play.

IMHO ... now lets' win NC in Football.

He makes calls. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. That's baseball. Honestly, they work out more often than they don't.

The only gripe you can have about Mainieri is that he likes to play favorites with certain kids and that they will stick way too long with a game plan based off of scouting report (I.e. scouting report says pitcher hammers the zone early so the hit aggressively early in counts rather than working counts) before making adjustments.

There's one regular player who swings at the first pitch 97% of the time regardless of location. That's both playing favorites and refusing to recognize tendencies if you can't say "son, if you swing at 1 more first pitch ball in the dirt, you're going to spend some time riding the pine".

It's amazing to me that pointing this out makes you then blame PM. Could he have made a call that would have helped? Possibly. But how is that not on the players to get a sacrifice fly or even a clutch hit? How does PM get all the blame and not the hitters to make something happen? Heck, we would have tied it if our runner slid into the base. Seems ridiculous to put that all or even mostly on PM. Oh and I also don't know when a bunt became guaranteed like so many apparently believe.

For frick's sake they just won 3 in a row including 2 against a team that lost 4 all year to scratch their way out of the loser's bracket to the CWS championship series and you're questioning their (his?) "hunger"?

He has to figure out how to build depth in the bullpen

he has to trust the bullpen more. Other than game one v Fla and the OSU loss, Hess was the only reliever in any high leverage situation. He was overworked and tired by the end. Giving up those four runs last night took away any chance we had in the 9th.

talent, not to take away from these players, but name one position player or DH on this team right now that was even close to the best LSU has ever had.

The coach is average at best and talent keeps him from being L.Miles. Doesn't know fundamentals and players don't either, so get used to second place.

To be fair I feel almost every coach does, I'm sure there is some reasoning behind some of it but I agree.

We've had 1 top 10 class since 2013 and we are now where near the top team in terms of mlb talent. Educate yourself instead of regurgitating bull shite rant myths.

So you're saying PM is having 1 of the best tenures in sec history and the best in lsu history? Because that's where the accomplishments place les miles.

I swear some of you actually believe Miles didnt have one of the most accomplished tenures in sec history.

It's laughable watching people like you call PM average when it's a fact that he has reached heights in his profession that you will never reach in your profession.
He is a better baseball coach than you are at anything in life.
