re: What was PM's thinking for pulling good pitching too early last night?

Yes. It look like Marceaux had a 2-3 more outs in him.
And what happens if he didn't? Then the complaints would be that PM pulled him too late. That is what is so maddening about so many of these complaints. At one time it is PM leaves them in too long. At others, it is that he pulls them too early. Maybe it's not as easy as everyone makes it out to be? It seems like it's just easy to always look back and criticize. :dunno:

I stayed at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, and it was excellent. Would definitely recommend it.
re: Per LSUsports.net, Eric Walker to miss 2018

Yeah I'm sure Paul just went rogue on this decision to put Walker in danger without the input of Walker or the training staff. Seems like the most obvious option and not that it's a terribly unfortunate injury that no one could have expected.
re: Does free will exist?
Posted by Rolo Hardy on 7/3/17 at 10:07 pm to Slippy
I wanted to get in before this turned into a crappy religious thread, but I do not believe that free will truly exists at least not at the level most people believe.
Just try to estimate how much of your life and decisions are truly the result of your choice? I would generously estimate that 95% or so of our life is completely out of our control. We have no say in things such as when we were born, where we were born, who we were born to, how many chromosomes we have, what mental capacities or deficiencies we may have, etc. If you were born in the mountains of eastern China to the Hmong people, for instance, you would have a totally different reality than you do now which would completely affect and change your choices. Not to mention if you were born in a completely different era.
Now, all of that and free will aren’t mutually exclusive, but it highlights how little we control and ultimately how much other things affect our “free will” choices. And all of this isn’t getting into the basic biology aspect about how pure evolutionary theory leads one towards agreeing with the idea that everything we do is just the result of randomly firing neurons in the brain (not wanting to debate this but just saying it simply without getting into things like consciousness and such).
So I believe we probably have a choice to a certain extent, but is it really free is the question. Anyone who just accepts flatly that there is a truly free will I think is being intellectually dishonest especially considering how different all their choices would be with one extra chromosome or if they were born into an area like North Korea. My 2 cents.

Runners at corners - 2 separate innings - no outs
It's amazing to me that pointing this out makes you then blame PM. Could he have made a call that would have helped? Possibly. But how is that not on the players to get a sacrifice fly or even a clutch hit? How does PM get all the blame and not the hitters to make something happen? Heck, we would have tied it if our runner slid into the base. Seems ridiculous to put that all or even mostly on PM. Oh and I also don't know when a bunt became guaranteed like so many apparently believe.

First, they are two completely different sports. Comparing the two is disingenuous at best. Having said that, Miles certainly knew and understood the game. He was a good coach. His time had come, however. It ran its course. That isn't a knock on his football IQ. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
On a side note, I do love how people who don't understand the game or intricacies of the game even at a high school level (I include myself in that) can make a fair assessment of coaches IQ or acumen. Not saying you can't criticize or point out when things don't work, but that's wholly different than questioning a coach's mental ability and knowledge of the game.

If you or anyone truly thinks a guy who is in the hall of fame and has won a title doesn't set his team up to win because of his coaching IQ and acumen, I feel sorry for you because you're not living in reality.
re: If I had told you in 2000 that we will win 1 title in the next 17 years

Better enjoy this championship because it looks like no team will ever see another run like we had in the 90s.
re: 100% of the time you safety squeeze in that situation
Posted by Rolo Hardy on 6/27/17 at 11:19 pm to Marlo Stanfield
This is truly a ridiculous thought. A safety squeeze is not a common play like you guys make it out to be. Even if he gets the bunt down, there is no guarantee the runner can go because it was bunted too hard or too soft or directly at the pitcher or not far enough away from the plate. Stop acting like a safety squeeze is a common occurrence and so easy to execute. Having your number 3 hitter get a sacrifice fly is way more likely then executing a safety squeeze to perfection especially when you consider how we bunted in that series.

re: Florida beat us 4 out of 5 this year.

Yep. It sucks, but they were the better team. Hell of year for the Tigers though!
re: IF you can't see the difference in coaching, you will never see it.
Posted by Rolo Hardy on 6/27/17 at 10:19 pm to cra_cra
Yeah PM shouldn't have called for those 3 errors, for his baserunner to get interference to take a run off he board, and have another tying run thrown out at the plate. And why didn't he go with all the other amazing options left in the bullpen that are better than Hess? It's crazy
re: What the Hell CPM???
Posted by Rolo Hardy on 6/27/17 at 10:15 pm to BlueDogTiger
I know! He needs to go to all our other great options left in the bullpen that are better than Hess.

We've been super all CWS bunting.
re: Please explain why no safety squeeze
Posted by Rolo Hardy on 6/27/17 at 10:05 pm to Skooter
Because you can score multiple ways. It's your number 3 hitter. Even a DP tied the game. And if the squeeze didn't work you more than likely would be crucifying PM.
re: bad srategy. bad fundamentals.

You're right. The strategy to have base runners take runs away was a bad one. Idk why we implemented that one.

Who knows? Speculating is crazy because he could have gotten a pitch he thought he could hit.
