this notion of Les being some kind of white knight is hilarious

its a bad idea to bring in a hc in waiting if Les isn't on board with retiring after next year.

Oh ok.... so only coaching candidates then should be Urban, Jimbo, and Saban since we only accept NC not conference titles

I agree with both points.

Looking at Miles on the sidelines, the man looks exhausted. He looks drained. Now he's hearing that he might be fired. IMO, the end is coming, whether Miles likes it or not.

The new OC / HCIW option? That might be the best he can do. Miles is not dumb, and he might realize that. I guess we'll see.

(Note: none of this matters, since Miles is likely done after the A&M game, regardless of our opinions. )

We would lose about 3 starters on offense.
maybe 3 on defense.

We would have a pretty good squad.

Bama is losing a lot, but they are still bama.
Ole Miss is losing a frick ton.
Miss St is losing a lot.
Auburn is losing some of what little they have.
Arkansas is losing Allen.
Florida will still be Grier-less until after we play them.

We will be a good squad next year no matter what. How good is the issue, and the concern with the current coaches.

LSU making a change just to make a change is the wrong move... LSU makes the wrong hire and then they have to pay 3 coaches they are fricked

Tducky its time for a move, Miles isn't going to win another title here it wont be a nc, a sec or even a sec west title. He is done its over time to put him in the ground. It was a great run with great times, but he can't handle it anymore.

Play that one out a bit.

He has a health issue. You think he'd rather a) get fired or b) get a HCIW so he has one last shot with the best offensive player (LF7) and recruiting class he's ever had?

Miles is probably the one coach who has both the intelligence and decency to make a HCIW situation work, IMO.

It's all hypothetical, regardless.

A move just to make a move is a bad idea...
LSU needs to coach already picked out and agreed upon. I am not against a move, but the wrong hire will set LSU back further.

I agree wrong hire will do that and of course there is a risk in making a move. However, if we let miles hang longer what if this recruiting class falls apart anyways? then we are behind the 8 ball even more and les will leave even less talent for a replacement.

Texas and Tennessee weren't wrong for firing Mack and Phil. Their flaw was waiting too long to do so. They also made questionable hires but any hire is risky.

I think we do have someone on the hook before this all unfolds. LSU is arguably the best opening this year and at worst second best. We pay as much as anyone, and everything is top notch so i believe we can pull in someone. We also don't appear to have the program rot that texas had.

If Les stays then LSU still finishes with a top 5-8 class. I think he has earned at least 1 more year to see if Harris, LF, and the rest of those young starters can improve.

I'd imagine it is really hard to get excited about UL Football. you guys can't seem to sustain any consistency for an entire season...

must be tough.
