Would you consider Jay Johnson’s first regular season successful?

He took a team that barely made the tournament into a team that almost hosted with basically the same players with less starting pitching.

Its not over yet.

CPM's last team won the Oregon Regional and lost to Tennessee in the Knoxville Super.

This Johnson experiment certainly had its ups and downs.

What exactly were the downs? Our best SS not being able to make a throw to 1st? Our better hitting catcher not being able to block a wild pitch?

Yes. I’d give him a B+.

It’s absurd that we were flirting with a national seed. We had a big misstep against Ole Miss and we are pretty unlucky from an injury standpoint.

If either/both of those things are different it’s probably an A+ job.

I've been pleased with the job he's done so far but that seems to be controversial on this board for some reason

Looking forward to how his team responds to the Regionals

Yes it has been a success so far and right now He gets an A for winning 38 games with this team. LSU had a SS who led the SEC in errors and a 2nd Baseman who was 2nd in errors for the year in the SEC. Then Jay Johnson had a Pitching Staff which was patchwork from week to week.
He gets an A.

He did a terrific job, considering he was forced to navigate through some of the worst starting pitching LSU has seen in years, and improved on last year’s win total.

It is yet to be seen

The standard at LSU is Omaha. Always has been, always will be

If LSU doesn't make it then this season is an utter failure

I am pleased, too. Absent some injuries we would likely be at home next weekend for the regional as hosting. Injuries are part of it, though. Overall he has the program trending up IMO.

If you think about where this team would be without Berry, Reyzelman, Cooper, Jobert & Gervase…then I’d say it was a success.

No. But I don’t think it was unsuccessful either
