We can beat State, but beating TN is a tall order. It's possible, but we just don't have the depth they do. Winning the tourney is a real long shot...but I'll be there Sunday if they make it.

I think the potential exists for LSU to beat any of those teams except Alabama and Auburn. If somehow the Tigers get past Moo State and Tennessee, and face possibly Arkansas and Florida in later games, then all bets are off for the tourney. Beating Moo State alone would be a coup for this Tiger team.

I mean, I would be less shocked than I would have if we ran the table last year. But still shocked nonetheless

LSU basketball has an unbelievable knack for playing themselves into the worst possible seeding with regards to matchups in the SEC tournament every year. Even the year we won the SEC in 2019 we got stuck with Florida who had given us 1 of our 2 losses and took us to OT in the other game.

Once you get past the 1st round games (I guess 2nd now), everyone is good. Tennessee and Auburn are the SEC's true National Championship contenders. You were probably going to run into them anyway.

While MSU is not a "good" matchup for LSU by any means, I think the blowout in BR was a bit of an outlier. LSU was coming off a tough stretch of games @ Florida, @ South Carolina, Kentucky. All of which were emotional fights all the way to the end. I thought that emotion could carryover into the home game vs. State. But it seems more likely LSU was "spent". Plus they lost a guy who had been a key piece in the two previous games, Ward, in the first half of the MSU game.

That's not to say MSU wouldn't have still won the game even if Ward wasn't hurt (I think they would have). But they probably caught LSU at a good time which turned what likely should have been a tight game into a blowout.

MSU comes into the game on a 4 game losing streak (albeit all against good teams). They haven't won a game since the victory over LSU. Their offense is playing much better, which is a concern. But I think LSU will be better prepared for MSU's great defense (at least they should be). I don't think I would bet on LSU to win. But I do think it will be a better game this time around.

This. Moo State is more motivated to win-- it'll be all about their desperation--and determination. They're still on the bubble, and will probably take a win by them to secure a tournament birth

We only have 9 scholarship players available. Ward being healthy along with our other 3 point shooters may give us a shooter's chance to beat State, but winning the very next night would be a huge task, much less 4 wins in 4 nights.

The long answer: Yes, everyone would be shocked because it is one of the most unlikely things ive ever heard.

The short answer: Yes.

Yes, considering that the two potential opponents we beat received zero mentions, and the four top potential opponents we lost to were only mentioned.

The Tennessee game worries me the most, but we could be looking at a situation where the top teams really do not care about the SECT and we make a deep run. LSU certainly did not care about the SECT when we were the #1 seed in 2019. Hopefully Tennessee feels the same way.

Crazy that if we had beaten Nicholls and Dayton we'd be staring down an at-large bid. Lost those two by a combined 5 points.
