Would Eric Walker be a fair comparison for Floyd?

Not freshman Eric Walker but upperclassman Eric Walker. Not the best looking but will grind out 5-6 solid innings with some hiccups here and there

Hmmm...Interesting thought. Agree, if Floyd can continue to give us 5-6 and hold the other team to 4-5 runs more often than not we will come out on top.

2017 Walker was just so awesome.

We literally had a 3 headed monster in Lange, Poche, Walker…. And boom Tommy John…. Walker was never the same.

We should have won it that year.

Floyd has better stuff than Walker did. Walker had better command than Floyd does. Both good pitchers.

I will go to my grave saying that if Walker doesn’t tear TJ then we win the natty in 2017.

Florida was clearly better than us. They beat us like 5 out of 6 times that we played them that year.

We had a great team, but we did not deserve a championship that season.

LSU played Florida for the title, didn’t they?

They were spent coming out of losers bracket and having to beat osu twice just to get to Florida

Floyd throws much harder. He has a major league arm if he can improve his command.

Walker was good, but he wasn't ever gonna overpower anybody.

Pitching didn’t lose the championship series for LSU. It was a lack of hitting.

First half of the season, not the second. LSU was on a roll headed into that CWS and beat arguably the best team to get to the finals.

I completely believe that if Walker is healthy, that series is a minimum if 3 games if not an LSU sweep. The loss of Walker and how the pitchers had to be used was a major deciding factor in the outcome.

Yep. And Lange never got to pitch in the championship series

He and Poche begged Paul to let them pitch games 1 and 2.
Poche then Lange

LSU scored 4 runs in 2 games.

LSU lost the game Poche started and only put 1 run on the board.

LSU played tight and committed 3 errors in game 2 while Florida played loose and played error free baseball.

Walker would have been a nice luxury to have but pitching doesn't matter when you can't put runs on the board.

When Walker was on he had far better control than Floyd, but his fastball was about 8 mph slower. No, they weren’t similar.

The only thing they have in common is being right handed. Walker threw 87 but could throw 4 pitches into a soup can. Floyd has absolute F you stuff but loses all of it in spurts

Floyd kind of reminds me of a not as consistent Louis Coleman. He works fast and gets homered on sometimes but Floyd’s pretty damn nasty when he’s on.

100% agree.

But in sports you never no how momentum swings.

If Lange does pitch our bats are looking for less runs. Maybe not pressing as much knowing they have to score a lot of runs to win. But all speculation

Just really sucked when you play a series for ship and your Ace doesn’t get to pitch was my comment. Wether that helped bats or not.

If the matrix is the result at the end of the day….there are some similarities but the differences are bigger. Walker, when healthy, would get you 7 innings. Walker had way less velo. When he lost his pin point control he became very ineffective. Ty Floyds delivery is how he gets deception, Walker had movement on the fastball and even if a ball it looked like a strike.
