Would Brennan still “step away” from football if JD never got here?

Then we’d have 2 QBs: Brennan & Nuss. Do you feel comfortable with that or with JD/Nuss? Personally, I don’t think Brennan loves this game anymore. JD proved to me otherwise. We should be glad and thankful that CBK pulled JD out of the portal. Let Nuss learn from the experienced QB and get ready for next season.

Nuss would have beaten him out. He would have left, and we would have had Nuss and howard. The JD5 take was interesting at the time, but now makes perfect sense. I think the staff knew Brennan’s heart or head wasn’t really in it

I've read that his arm wasn't also still there. Like the injuries took a toll. Is that true? Secondly, I just don't think the guy had the right mix of traits. Who's out for a year from falling drunk at 20 years old? I fell quite a few times drunk at that age but never really hurt. Nor ripped my abs from my pelvis and hurt for a year. Not his fault, not many people are built for the sec

He probably just wasn’t interested anymore. Likely told Kelly he would come back and compete, and if he doesn’t win the starting spot, he’s stepping away.

I appreciate Brennan and was looking forward to seeing him be our starter. Leaving football all together indicates he is done with the sport. Maybe this was evident in practice resulting in his depth chart status.

I think everyone appreciates Brennan for being a tiger for these 6 years. Unfortunately he was never able to win the job and I hope he finds happiness in whatever he chooses to do.

I think his arm could get him through the season. But again, I just don’t think his heart was in it and it’s hard to blame him. You work at something for 5-6 years and it never happens, anybody would be dejected.

I don’t see a reason to shite on Brennan. He leaves with a national championship. But I am excited to see this offense under Daniels or Nuss. I don’t think Brennan was a fit for a Kelly/denbrock offense that emphasizes RPO. There is no RPO if your qb has cement in his shoes

I still don’t get why he quit football entirely. Why not finish out the year? Worst case scenario you have the best seat in the house every game and can say you were on BK’s first team the rest of your life. That could translate to a nice media or football ops job later. Injuries happen and he may have been a starter at some point. He will never get this chance again to be on an SEC football team so why give away your last season?

I also bet he is regretting not coming back for the bowl game now. Would have totally changed the narrative on his leadership abilities and given him momentum coming into the season. He played it safe and it went wrong.

Do you know what RPO stands for? It is run pass option. It doesn't mean the QB runs. It means the QB has the option to hand the ball off to the running back or pull the ball back and pass. When the QB sticks the ball in the running backs hands he reads the defense to see what the better option is.

No one is really talking about this, but his wedding date is like 2 weeks before the NFL draft. He had zero intention of being drafted well before he quit the team. Not everyone wants to leave their wife for 10+ weeks per year my feelings on how he handled this aside, everyone dreams of being a pro athlete but the reality of the situation sucks if you have better options like inheriting $30,000,000 worth of restaurants

I know everyone has their sauces but one thing I haven't seen mentioned yet that was relayed to me was that Brennan was still feeling the core injury. It was affecting his his ability to throw and one of the reasons he was trying to go to a smaller school prior to coming back.

We'll see if this is correct if he stays out of the portal.

I don't think that is the case. I think the staff knew he probably wasn't ideal for what they wanted to do offensively and a better option, Daniels, became available. I have LONG felt Brennan was a guy who like the notoriety that came with being an LSU QB, but football wasn't the end all be all for him. He had other interests, not unlike a typical LSU fraternity kid (there is nothing wrong with that).

Once it became clear he wasn't going to be the starter this season, or maybe even in the top 2 at the position, he decided it was just time to move on with life. The grind of a college football player is tough. If you are a 23 year old with minimal likelihood of a pro career on a team of mostly 18-21 year olds you probably don't feel like going through that grind anymore and are just ready to start your adult life.

As a 40 year old you want to shake the guy and say "Who cares if you are the backup? Enjoy one last season in the sun because once it's over, it's over!" But I can see why a guy who has been it the grind for 6 years is ready to move on.

I see no way someone could take what I said as me shitting on him unless you sensitive as hell. I asked if his arm was still there and I pointed out he's been out with 2 injuries (that we've never heard of) for 2 full seasons. Then said not many people are built for SEC ball. Where the frick was I wrong or "shitting"?!

That side of the Brennan family does NOT own $30,000,000 of restaurants any longer.
Go search where his uncles are currently working.
