They ruined tailgating and still expect people to show up

96K paid.

If the average ticket is $50, that’s 4.8MM (just in ticket sales) by my math.

And y’all still bitching!

Correct. The Swamp looked the same way tonight against an SEC opponent.

No they aren’t unique to LSU. But do other schools actively discourage attendance like LSU does?

To think that the empty seats is some sort of collective rebellion is something I dont buy. Theres no reason for that many no shows, and it was going on during Miles’ last years as well. Certainly The adminsitration shoulders a great deal of the blame, but you cannot convince me the lower bowl is filled tonight if Jimbo is our coach.

Look I thought it was the height of insanity to expand to over 100k. I would rather people clamer for tickets than have too much supply. The only time we fill the stadium is Bama. Any other game and you can walk up and get free tickets.

And even if it was, thats not an excuse for the absolute embarrassing attendance for the blue haired crowd behind the bench. Those seats were about 60% to capacity and the decline has been going on for years. Nor is it a pass for the students leaving after half.

I blame SLU fans.

They should have travelled better.

Declining attendance is a problem nationwide. But there are some issues that LSU has actively made worse.

Lack of free parking is a big one. Amenities in Tiger Stadium is another one. We all love Tiger Stadium, but it’s an absolute shite hole. Combine that with never ending price hikes, people stay home.

Regarding the sideline and student seats, LSU football is a social event and a place to be seen for a large percentage of people who go. Once they get to their seat, check in on Facebook, and post a picture to Instagram, the countdown to when they leave is on.

More corporate socialites, less real fans.

I hate the term "Paid Attendance." How about using "Tickets Sold" and "Actual Attendance" for butts in the seats?

Using "Paid Attendance" is just a way for the LSUAD and their Cheerleaders to make attendance appear better than it actually is.

BTW, Middendorf's was great tonight. We had no desire to witness the Tigers playing one of Louisiana's stellar Junior Colleges.

South Carolina had 1000+ empty seats in their upper end zone today for their biggest home game of the year. And they were playing UGA who they absolutely hate.

Is like to know how many private vs corporate seats are owned? If you get a free ticket to go check out an LSU game your less likely to stay. Product and how big and close the game is matters. We will see when ole miss comes to town what attendance looks like.

Just looked, tonight’s attendance of 96,000 was the worst home opener attendance since 2013, the year before the south endzone expansion.

#1, We didn't have close to 96,000 actually in the stadium.

#2, the days of filling up Tiger Stadium for a any game other than a top SEC team (or comparable non conference) are over.

We had maybe 60,000 fans there. I was disappointed. I’ve heard nothing but complaining about concessions. They ran out of water where I was at by the end of halftime. The parking was the worst I’ve seen it for a non sec team.

The game itself was boring to watch. The tailgating scene was pretty pathetic.

LSU made money but 99% of the people were not satisfied with yesterday. They need to cut down on the paid parking. They need to stock more water and other basic things that get bought on a weekly basis. They need to require use of the tickets by their fans or else you can lose your premium tickets. They should allow for smokers to enter a designated smoking section and be allowed to re-enter. I have no clue how you make the students stay longer unless you sell alcohol.

I guess half the crowd leaving at halftime is also a new norm?

They had season tickets available in the lower bowl 3 weeks after they mailed them out. LSU is living in denial

The same tickets they cant sell? WTF would be the point of that? When you can get season tickets in the NEZ and sidelines lower bowl with no waiting or years of donations wtf good will it do to kick the people that pay you out?

Alleva is there for one reason....to make money and he doesn't give a crap about the fans. A smart AD would realize that LSU had a special feel on tailgating and do what he can to not only maintin tradition, but enhance the experience AND along the way, make a buck. Instead, his blueprint is "one size fits all"...he does the same things other campuses are doing that have NO TRADITION LIKE LSU at all. There has to be balance....maintain tradition and make a buck. Had he done that years ago and gave a crap, I would still be tailgating and be a season ticket holder! I was there during the Hallman/Dinardo days to support the team when the team was hurting. WHY? Because of the tradition!

LSU needs a change at the top, and once that happens, Joe will be gone. But, this is a problem with LSU administration who have no clue as to tradition or passion of the fans!

The traffic sucked balls to!

LSU has destroyed the tailgate scene and our once great tiger stadium is nothing more than corporate clowns that golf clap and leave at half time
