LSU has not one, not two, but three of them. According to this article our 1958 national championship was won by of the 4 worst coach to ever win one (at the time of writing in 2013). Adding on that our 2007 natty was one by a man who eats grass, tries to sleep with coeds, and can’t modernize an offense and our 2019 natty was won by a guy who’s known for ripping off his shirt, sleeping with random blondes, and going 8-7 since the natty. That means Saban is the only actually elite coach to ever win a championship at LSU and lightning just struck the three other times. And he left a year after his natty. Imagine what this program could do with an actually competent head coach who stays a prolonged amount of time!!!

There's only one Natty winning coach who threatened to throw a fans lifeless body in his fishing hole

Billy Cannon and Joe Burrow were Heisman trophy winners. Probably don’t win those years without them. Les had some incredible luck to win the 07 title. It’s odd Saban’s is the only shared title.

He absolutely was and I don’t think there’s any questions about that anymore. Miles should have won one in 2006, won one in 2007, and was some deer antler spray away from winning one in 2011 I would argue that the 2011 team was his best team ever. And it fully consisted of his own players. Ballers who you did not want to frick with.

O will never touch anything close to 2019 ever again. NFL roster with elite coordinators. A QB who imo is the Tom Brady of college football. We will NEVER see anything like that again with this clown.

Insane joe burrow made shrimp generational rich by transferring here.

If we can finally make the splash hire we’ve waited 16 years for then it was still an entertaining and winning ride, minus shrimp’s collapse

This is dumb. Dietzel basically ushered in the modern era of college football. The only thing he did stupid, was chasing the dream of thinking he could replace his old mentor at West Point and return them to prominence, when it should have been clear that they would never regain powerhouse status. He’d be an SEC legend (maybe not on Bryant status, but one still) had he never left LSU. The team he left likely would have won a NC with him. And, yeah, I know he had his own coed troubles rumors.

The worse coach to win a Natty is Les Miles by a mile. In fact, it's not even close.

We will likely never see that kind of season again with any coach. But he does have one thing over Miles besides going 15-0 with a national title and not having a 2-loss national title, he actually recognized that our passing game wasn't good enough and through a fortunate process, brought Joe Brady in. Miles was so stubborn that he was almost fired, then saved at the last second only to come back the next year with the same pathetic passing offense where he was fired 4 games into the season.

I think 2018 and having a 10-win season(really was 11) paired with a NY6 bowl win keeps him from being worse than Chizik. But yea you could throw him up against just about anybody else and there could be an argument after the dumpster fire that have been the last two years.

Les had leaders all over the field. He recruited for it. All those defensive guys held your arse accountable.

I fully understand why the firing happened and i was on board with it. And I wouldn’t trade 2019 for anything. But give me Miles pre 1/9/12 over any O year other than that year. There has been no fire with his teams other than what Burrow created in his tenure.

Like him or not, there's no wondering about it.
After 51-15 in his first 5, Miles backed it up with 52-14 in his 2nd 5yrs, vs poor Ed who has obviously fallen off a cliff and needs meds.
