Wade will have his pick of P5 schools. He isnt trying to break in to the big club anymore like when he first came to LSU

Which P5 schools do you see firing their HC at the end of the season?

Outside of McMahon it is hard to see anyone in the SEC making a move. MAYBE Oklahoma and/or Texas. But that is no guarantee.

Big 12 - Colorado? Arizona St?

Big East - Xavier? Butler? Seton Hall?

ACC - Florida St., Miami, Virginia?

Big 10 - Indiana?

Outside of Indiana there are no marquee brands bigger than LSU. Equal? Maybe. But not really bigger. Virginia is because of Tony Bennett. Before and after Bennet, not so much. That said, I wouldn't be surprised it Wade would be interested in Virginia. He has very deep ties in Virginia/Maryland recruiting

Regardless, none of those schools have a familiar donor base like at LSU. That is unless you are naïve enough to think (1) Wade "bought" the likes of Reid, Smart, Thomas, Waters, Watford, etc with his own money and (2) those players took pennies on the dollar to come to LSU, turning down thousands from Arizona, Auburn, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, etc or even worse (3) you think Arizona, Auburn, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, etc weren't paying players too.

There will be other schools knocking for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets serious interest from Miami, FSU, Virginia, or all of the above.

Exactly. I just don't see a reality where Wade is the basketball coach and Woodward is AD.

Even before the wire tap stuff, people on this board were speculating that Wade wasn't Woodward's "guy".

Who knows what happened in that meeting where they fired Wade. Maybe he and Woody shook hands and said "best of luck" to each other. But I think it's more likely they motherfricked each other on the way out the door hoping to never be acquainted again.

Add Villanova to your list, and maybe even Texas. There will be a shitload of job openings and competition for new coaching hires.

The NCAA doesn't give a shite about LSU's football program.

The old wive's tale that the basketball team had to save the football team is played out.

Doubtful any big name coach is coming to LSU, it’s either bring back Wade , who has proven he can win at LSU or take a chance on another mid major guy with the real possibility he flops and you are 0-2 on your men’s basketball hires.

I often wonder if he would. I don't know one way or the other, but he was fricked over pretty bad.

I have it on good record that WW wants to be back at LSU.

At what price?

Is Woodward going to have to suck him off at mid court? If yes, would he agree to make it contingent on a natty?

Will Wade was moderately successful in a time when most other teams were skittish about paying players; that’s not the case anymore. I doubt he would have the same advantages that he had previously at LSU.

Are we sure about that? If I were him I sure wouldn’t.

Take this for what it’s worth, but the daughter of an LSU basketball legend is good friends with Mrs. Will Wade and told me he would come back even if LSU made him walk to BR from Lake Charles, like yesterday. Verbatim. Again, FWIW

Wade ship has sailed. He caused this mess to begin with. Now that everyone can pay, no guarantee Wade does much. Go get Bob Huggins.

Well, he has McNeese playing at a higher level than LSU when you compare his teams competitiveness vs SEC teams. that LSU has played.

I don't know why this board is obsessed with bringing him back. It will never happen. That ship is long sailed. You really think he wants to come back here after he was treated?

What if there are people on the BOS that wouldn't approve that contract? Could possible be a former player, or maybe a slumlord.....

What then?

Why would he want to?

Woodward’s M.O. is to make big name splash hires. WW is a loser and LSU isn’t in the business of rescuing exiled coaches from Siberia.

LSU’s next basketball coach will be someone the fan base can actually be proud of. That’s not WW.
