McMahon is clearly not a major college caliber coach. But every AD misfires on somebody.

he had about the same credentials as WW before coming to LSU. Of course, he had zero players when he came here. It was like starting a new program. In addition, you didn't have anyone lining up to take the LSU job. I honestly believe MM can coach. I don't know about his recruiting ability though, because we clearly don't have the talent as other SEC schools.

He has beat Bama and Ole Miss, Baylor, Oklahoma good enough for an extension.

He has like 7 years left on his current deal and he's 63 years old

You can turn basketball around quickly with the right coach

I agree 100%. That is why I have laughed at people who believe starting with 0 scholarship players 3 years ago gives McMahon more than 3 years of slack. In basketball with the fewest players on the field/court at one time compared to baseball, softball, football, etc, it doesn't take a lot of players to turn it around on a dime with a good coach. Missouri won 0 SEC games last season...now in the NCAA tourney.

In 2024 class available to the LSU team THIS season, LSU signed the #14 class which included 4 HS players and 3 TR. And someone is going to try to tell me with over half the roster supposed quality players you end up with a losing record (albeit in the SEC) and pull 0 upsets. That is bad coaching, NOT a lack of talent.

I accidentally rebutted your "new program" and "recruiting" and "talent" points in a reply to saturncube who I agreed with. IMO, what you are giving are excuses for McMahon's lack of success, not legitimate reasons.

That's obvious to anyone with eyes. So Scott is either an idiot or hes lying.

Credit here. Also easiest search/hire as LSU is premier job in the sport.

Largely TBD. But i am still hopeful CBK can get it done.

His HUGE miss was McMahon. There were some extenuating circumstances there for that transition but still clearly a miss on that hire.

At this point, its not about missing on the hire, it's bringing him back for a fourth year. Negative infinity points.

Wining 33% of your games vs ranked opponents has never been good at LSU. Hasn’t happened since Hallman and the last two years of Dinardo.

MM is not the guy-should be fired and I’m bothered it didn’t happen this year.

AND I am still optimistic about his replacement. Will Wade is not the end all be all.
