That compliance department has been our biggest enemy for years. Every single one should be fired.
Imagine if we took other schools stance on pot use. Go back to 2012 and put Mathieu on the team. We arguably could win the National Championship. And that’s just one example.
frick our compliance department.

It is a team game & that should include the staff & compliance.

That’s Alleva reincarnated right there. frick

He cannot publicly say anything about compliance. There is no way that the AD can minimize compliance role especially with the WW thing going on and the institutional control issues buzzing around.

The compliance department is supposed to be in an advisory role for the coaches and report to the AD when necessary. They're never, ever supposed to report directly to the NCAA, any of their findings, in any capacity. Their boss is the AD. That's who they report findings to.
They're supposed to be there to be a resource for the coaches so the coaches can seek advice about how to stay in compliance in the same way that large corporations keep attorneys on retainer to consult with. This doesn't seem to be how the compliance department functions at all. They seem to have a gross misunderstanding of their role and job description.

Who's their employer?
Their only obligation is to the one writing their paycheck. That's LSU.
And in case they've forgotten who their employer is, don't worry. Scott Woodward will remind them with a pink slip.

The assumption is that the compliance department takes a non-adversarial attitude toward the individual coaches and their teams. The reality seems to be much more adversarial. More of a gotcha attitude as opposed to a let's try to avoid these things sort of attitude.
I think that stemmed from an idea that they were effectively the hall monitor for the AD rather than the compliance coaches for the individual coaches and athletes. That is what Woodward needs to change.
We need a compliance department that proactively helps teams be in compliance. Not one looking to catch them doing something wrong and not one willing to look the other way either.

LSU athletics is a business. You don't see Amazon, Facebook, etc intentionally putting themselves at a disadvantage time after time.

Then they (or you, as applicable) should stop acting like strict parents and start acting like cooperative partners with the teams they are ostensibly supposed to be supporting. Fully HALF of our football problems going back almost 20 years are self-inflicted wounds. I want a clean football team, but I don't want a risk averse compliance department when the competitive difference between a 10 win team and a playoff team is razor thin.

LouBega was trying to justify his job in that thread. Now with Woodward here, LouBega is squarely on the hot seat.

Oh man, this is great. The overhauling of the compliance department by our newly appointed AD is going to be a game changer.
Joe Alleva is not our Athletic Director anymore!!!!!
