The corporate tailgate by revelry by the engineering building does have the large tents, seating and tvs.

Everyone complaining about the corporate tailgating like those is stupid. Those are awesome.

Now the huge tents that are catered and have people just come eat and leave...yea those suck but they have been there for 2 decades or more now.

The biggest things that can be controlled are the pay lots/allowing people in to drop supplies off and the banning of areas on campus where you can tailgate.

Some of you whine about everything though. I get the traffic situation and parking to a certain extent. But complaining about it being corporate is dumb as hell. Plenty of places aren't and plenty of places to still tailgate.

But overall it's not coming back like it was. There are too.many entertainment options and getting in and out is a hassle that most people don't want to deal with.

I agree with the corporate tent angle. If there is a demand it should be utilized. For some its a great way to get a tailgate set up for larger crowds without the hassle. My biggest complaint is the inner campus parking. I am not saying it should be free, but it should be more of a first come first serve setting. Charge accordingly. Those who want to get out early and fight for a spot let them do that so they can continue their tailgating. Many of these much needed spots go empty for games or fill up very late and they are in the heart of campus. Its not that much further of a walk from other outer perimeter lots let those be for people who show up late. Wouldn't create such a traffic condition in the heart of campus before games.

Also let the students tailgate again. Have more security if needed but allow them to tailgate and hold the individuals accountable for their actions, don't punish entire groups of people.

AD's Hire people. They also raise money and prices.
The last one is why they end up not being popular

I could be wrong but I don't think many of our fans are concerned about the prices, but the inferior product they get for that price, we pay a premium for a shite game day experience at TS

We would see a steady INCREASE of gameday enthusiasm head back to campus these glorious 7 home game weekends a year. People would be over the moon about it.

People would be over the moon and imo you'd see an influx for what maybe a season? Then it'll be back to those people who will tailgate for every game no matter what and the people who are only there for whatever weekend.

As far as I know, LSU doesn't have difficulty getting fans out to tailgate even with the current situation so there isn't gonna be some mad rush of more people that can be sustained.

The people that stay home now because they think the way it is set up now is too much of a pain will just find some other thing that inconveniences them and use that as an excuse as to why they don't come to campus on game day.

TL;DR: LSU will not forgo making money for fan convenience cuz it won't net them much in return.

You just contradicted yourself here.
LSU tailgating has absolutely taken a dip in the last decade. It is painfully noticeable just walking around campus on Fridays & Saturdays in the fall.

No I didn't. The people that stay home now are using the set up as an excuse. They never came out weekly and never will.

Sure they might come out for a season if they pull back on some of what they charge for but they will always find an excuse as to why it's too inconvenient.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE for everything to go back to the way it was, I just don't think it would fiscally benefit the AD so it won't happen.

I also don't think it would attract new tailgaters like some believe it would.

I was in a large group that set up weekly. Regulars reached about 45 ppl per game + up to 100 guests (not randoms, known friends or visiting team guests of members/friends). But in 2015, we had to stop the big show because everything became too much of a hassle not being able to set up or break down in our spot.

Know of over 25 different tailgate groups that are no longer active, in addition to at least 15 RV lot spot former owners who just threw in the towel due to the hassle & prices.

The tailgating numbers are down, by a large clip.

I stand corrected. I fell victim to thinking my own experiences were the same as others.

Yeah, they're awesome for away fans. That area was red last year for both UGA and Bama. For the smaller games it was a ghost town. That space could be getting used by regular LSU fans. It's a ton of green space that kids could running around playing pick up games on. Instead it's used by out of town law firms to entertain away fans.

Well one of the main tailgates I go to is there. It is nice as hell, close to parking and easy to come and easy to go.

And last year for bama there were not any bama tailgates in that area at all. Talking out your arse on that one. I was there and there were a few mixed in with the normal tailgate but almost all of those by engineering are sold In a Yearly package.

I’d imagine he’d make wholesale changes after season is over and he can see firsthand where issues are.

that's the plan.

The entire Athletics dept is in the midst of a complete restructure. Lots of reassignment of duties and new administrative positions being created, all with the intent of improving the fan experience. There's also a big onus being placed on improving internal processes.

This year will be getting the people in place to make the wholesale changes neccessary to improving the product

Big fan of Scott Woodward so far

That's why they pay for parking so they can show up late.

Close to what parking? There is no fricking parking around there anymore.

Uhhhhh, I've been tailgating in this area for 30 years. Almost the entire side along the sidewalk was nothing but Bama fans. They were pissing all over people's cars over there. I had to walk over and tell them Tureaud was right across the street with open restrooms.

Anyone who went to the Texas game can see first hand what messing with the game experience can do. No tailgating until an hour before the game. Oh and the student stampede.

Provide parking in the outer areas for those who want a spot guaranteed but not in the heart of campus where most of the tailgating occurs. You can charge the same amount either way.

Amen, brother. Greek, non-Greek, makes no difference to me. INDIVIDUAL accountability. Otherwise, leave those kids alone.

Good subject, but I agree that a question mark should be edited into subject line.
I also think that the new AD is looking, listening & getting his team in place for future improvements.
We must understand that there is a price to pay to be a top 10 team year in & year out. I also agree that within reason, LSU fans will pay their fair share to partake in gameday. May expect some on campus parking to open up on a first come basis. If you want to come in early Saturday & get a spot for tailgating, do so. But the guys that expect to show up at 4 for a campus spot will probably be out of luck.
