It seems all of our hasty extensions have worked out well in the past.

Do you know how silly it would be to give him a raise & have to put buyout stipulations regarding sanctions in that new contract?

Who cares?

Kansas gave Bill Self a de facto "lifetime contract" last spring even with ongoing NCAA investigation. There are some safeguards for Kansas in the contract if the NCAA finds violations occurred in the program under Self.

The usual virtue signaling media bellyachers would complain. But why should LSU care about appeasing them? They will NEVER be appeased. They will just go on to the next "injustice" in the desperate search for clicks and retweets.

Wade has LSU basketball at a consistent level of success they have not experienced in 30 years and on a potential championship level trajectory. Given that Wade still isn't 40 years old, it is understandable to try to lock in that potential for decades of success. What is the worst that can happen? LSU has to fire Wade or he leaves on his own, sending the program back to being largely irrelevant?

Yes, there is a risk in extending him. But given the history of the program and its current status I would say the potential reward of keeping him here long term FAR outweighs the risk.

He’s not in the strongest negotiation position with the whole scandal thing but being a guy who weathers the storm and keeps winning sure gives him some leverage

He hasn’t been to the final four in 6 years. Good chance that extends to 7.

You might be jumping the gun a bit since this is his 5th season, one of which didn’t even have an NCAA tournament. At least, get your facts straight.

Woodward was stupid in giving O the Giant contract extension ! He was prudent with Wade’s contract giving the cloud over his head !

Was he ever involved with an FBI investigation? Wiretaps etc? I personally don’t think it’s that bad. But, Cal was never branded the way Will has been..

And this is what it’s all about-
Money

Wade has is minions trolling the boards touting his greatness to get him more money either here or elsewhere

I say if he gets to the 8, he gets big bucks.

Thanks for bringing that up. It was a cheap shot and classless. Pissed me off. It should piss off any real LSU fan.

Don’t air the dirty laundry publicly. Classless. Wade is about wade though.
