Woodward did his job and hired the winningness HC in college football.What he didn’t realize is that BK would whiff on hiring OCs ,DCs and assistants.And now playing players who can’t help you win against an below average defense because they are hurt.I don’t blame Woodward for the big buyout go look at the buyouts for every other big time coach.Its even more than BKs.

There is so much money in CFB that these contracts are not “huge”. lol To me the problem is the guarantee.

He hired BK with the mutual understanding that they would also be paying Orgeron not to coach.
That means they both knew their optimal years to pay for the best was going to be after the 2025 season when O falls off the payroll.

As much as I hate throwing money at coaches, there's no other way around it. Yes they have to pay those high salaries to lure them in. Times are going to change this with NIL I hope. Not sure how it will happen but I hope big salaries are tied to big winning seasons in a contract. Pay big because results were big. Win the SEC or more, bigger pay days. Lose out bad during a season, get less payout.

I’m a Dan Lanning man myself but every single time I mention it I get lambasted. He will make his way to the SEC eventually and not for money. Phil Old arse Phil can pay him more than anyone but all coaches that have been in the SEC in some capacity will want to return.
