The state finances has nothing to do with the money. Its coming from PRIVATE DONORS NOT TAX PAYERS...Why do people not understand that.

150 millionaires donating $100k each would work.

Well, for one, the STATE wouldn't be paying this money.

But keep on keepin' on, troll-bag.

Despite the denials, you can't escape the fact that the LSU Athletic Department is a STATE AGENCY.

A state agency which private donors are investing in in order to create a product that PRODUCES PROFIT FOR THE STATE.

with an independent revenue stream and would $15M make a dent in the state finances? Doubt it.

I would be as happy as anybody if we got stipulated, dedicated donations sufficient to buy out Miles's contract.

Rex, on the surface paying the buyout looks bad...however if you dig into the economic impact of continuing the downward slide

consider what happens economically in Baton Rouge with fewer people going to LSU games: hotel vacancies, people not spending money on tailgating, people not buying LSU stuff...

One family paid 100k for a signed jersey and a couple helmets for charity. You don't think that same family wouldn't be willing to put up 500k for a year? That would basically cover the buyout for one year. The buyout will come from the boosters. That being said, I posted this last night and others have said it as well: If miles is the man he portrays himself to be, he has to see that he is holding back the program. If he were to negotiate a smaller buyout and resign, I'd have a huge amount of respect for him. This is his opportunity to walk away with some class and preserve his legacy. If he's too damn stubborn and sticks to the contract, it will leave a blemish that I'm not sure he'll be able to overcome for years. Make no mistake he views his career at LSU as his legacy, he sees himself as LSU's Bo. If he wants to cement that legacy, he walks away with class. If he pushes for the payout, it will be years before he is celebrated by LSU.

If you are going to complain about money and football it should be the $400 million state tax payer money being paid to Tom Benson! LSU football receives no state tax money, so it does not matter.

Basically one of the first 3 steps to initiate all this. And if you didn't have donors volunteering already, you can bet your arse it was lined up and commitments made Sat in Baton Rouge while the team and coaches were in Oxford.

I think that same family went ahead and gave a $25mil donation to either the athletic dept or the school (2 different things, TAF separates the two) at the same time.

Is this the same Rex from another site that had a diet he used only for producing a certain bodily fluid. If so, please don't feed him.
