That is actually very far from that. Those guys are top of the draft talent. Don't be so ridiculous.

My point is, you don't pass on proven success and a sure upgrade at a position (especially SS) because you like the potential of a kid coming in from high school.

I think it more likely—assuming another big arm or two comes by way of the portal—that Guidry is your starting shortstop next season and rarely pitches, if at all.
He's a proven closer.
It would be dumb to not have him pitch going forward.

Well if you go by that logic then you quit getting HS kids with potential to come to your school because you have a reputation of recruiting them and then when they get to campus you recruit the portal over them to push them out. I understand competition at positions and what not but when you do that you don't give the young kids a chance to prove themselves and you can't sustain a program by going to the portal year in and year out for a lot of players.
I've mentioned it before but the timing of all of this has a lot to do with it too.
Example of what you were trying to say with Skenes and White is like what is happening with Brayden Montgomery. You recruit him no matter what and hope that if he comes to campus that it doesn't piss any of the young talent off. He is good enough to take the risk of doing that. Top of the draft type talent you go after and figure out the rest later.

Last year you told us he wouldn't play 3rd base.

Someone needs to play 2nd base as well. Guidry needs to show he can play & hit as well as Braswell. Nipples can play defense but can't hit and I believe Milam is going to be really good but he's young. I hope LSU can bring in the Hill kid from Zona State he had a great freshman year at SS.
Let it play out but you have to consider a possible injury as well competition is always a good thing. I trust in Jay to get it right!!!

OR.... You can find the middle ground, which JJ seems to be doing a fantastic job of. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Any list that doesn't include Pirate King is inaccurate. Boat is just a troll. Ell can get emotional. Neither are as dumb as the 3 on your list though.

Damn, you’re right about Pirate Queen. My bad.

If he would be a one and done player I don’t think we are having this conversation as much. Being he is a 2 year guy, that affects a lot of people on the roster.
Everything I’m saying is not saying I don’t want the kid on LSU because I personally think he would start the next 2 years. I’m giving the reasons on why he may not come to LSU. These are all things Jay has to consider. Also based on things I’ve heard earlier today. Like you said, Jay seems to be managing it all pretty well with the portal so far. It’s all still new and still learning how to manage it.

Is Reaves actually coming to LSU next year?
Good catch. I wonder if this changed in the past month?

Not sure why you are getting the downvotes. Guidry showed his value on the bump. He has the talent to do either.

The Hill kid had double the errors of all other SEC shortstops. Which was equal to Thompson’s freshman year error total. 15-errors total.

There are more options than those. There are 5 incoming freshman that are listed as MIF (Seo May be PO)
