funny how some of the posters don't realize that jefferson drops back into the area where Offensive tackles drive their men towards

Is that how the play is designed OR is that just what he does & it doesn't work? Give me a break ... I'm female (no pics coming) and it's an honest question. Even I notice that when he has a 7 or so step drop we're done for.

Let me break this down to you like a fraction:

JJ is maturing the same way JL matured last year; both take a step forward, we think all will be well, the next week, the guy regresses. JJ regresses by not throwing the ball away and stutter stepping when he is being pursued. JL would throw the ball to the wrong team.

HOWEVER, that OLine surely isn't helping JJ any, he isn't being given much time to read and react AND all those false starts we've been getting surely haven't helped, can't do all that much from 2nd & 15 or 3rd and 22

The O-Line had been horrible until Georgia. The greater issue is that defenses stack the box and dare Jefferson to throw. And he either can't or won't.

I'm not saying that QB play isn't an issue, but I believe that the Oline play is a much bigger concern then QB play right now. Last year's offense had a running game, Scott had over 1,000 yards rushing, he won't come close to that this year. LSU could have won last night if the running game was there.

Sir you are dead wrong. The QB has ample time to make decisions last night. He failed miserable to get rid of the ball before the attack was in his face. When you have to wait until a receiver has completed his route to deliver the ball you will ALWAYS have someone in your face.

you're right, I'd rather the six picks.

I think the o-line did not puke enough. This was a potent (and pungent) weapon against Georgia.

the o-line is just plain bad this year, we can all agree on that. however, what makes that even worse is the fact that defenses don't respect JJ. they know he can't and won't beat them. With JL the defense has to play honest and can't load the box every play w/o consequences.

Lee had a dominating run game at his disposal...with the same personal according to other posters. What happened to our run game?

The running game was helped last year because teams knew we could throw downfield. Don't have that same threat this year.

If this is the case, why does Miles keep trying to establish a power running game?

Very simple answer, no coach dared to stack the box on Lee. With JJ its a given. If you have 8 to 10 men within a few yards of the line, you have no running game.

Perfect example, Scott scoring against Ga. Once he got past the line, no one was near to stop him.

Maybe because it's what the team is best at. It's been this way for years at LSU. You win games by playing great defense, and running through people. The difference is that we usually have a downfield threat to keep people honest.

You're looking at what happens when we don't. But we're not going to abandon the very thing that works when all else fails.

like previously stated. If you CANNOT run the ball you will have a VERY hard time passing it. That is what we are seeing.

you have to have a running game. Simple as that.

Oh. Jarrett lee needs to see the field. We will lose posibly 3 more if JJ plays like he does.

you can easily make the counter argument that *because* we cannot pass the ball whatsoever, the defense can easily key on the run.

this in my estimation, is a main reason that the running game is worse this year than it was last year

id like to see lee get a shot.

Crap. We'll lose to Alabama if Jefferson starts. We have a better chance with Lee, but would probably still lose. We'll win the rest of our games with either one and a disciplined defense.

It doesnt really matter who the QB is right now, the coaching staff looks like that are playing to not lose instead of playing to win. Lee would not get the ball to the playmakers if the coaching staff does not improve its playcalling and game management skills!!!

Honest question. Do you think it's more likely that Crowton is calling plays that have all of the WRs running 5-10 yard routes or that Jefferson checks down to the receiver within 5-10 yards?

When Lee had to go no huddle he was money. It was when they went with a slower tempo that he would break down and make mistakes.

Going to a no huddle would keep the defense honest and wear them down faster. Sounds like a brilliant idea to me....

His 2nd half against Troy was a thing of beauty. Interesting how impotent our offense has become, because other than Lee all the tools are there
