re: Winning Record in the Toughest Conference in the World.

You do play to win championships (SEC division/conference and National). Les Miles would tell you the same thing if you asked him 1000 times. That's the ultimate goal. Anything besides winning a championship is a secondary goal.

All LSU fans want the Tigers to be the best. I agree with that.
I don't get your point. Are you saying it's OK to be 10-2, but, 7-5 would be unacceptable?
What is the acceptable range of outcomes, in your learned opinion?
Are you one of those jerks who expected LSU to be undefeated and to have slaughtered Arky? OR
Are you one of those squishy LSU fans who gladly accept sloppy, undisciplined, goofy football, because you don't have enough pride and self esteem to DEMAND that Miles grow a brain and coach the Tiger up to our potential?
WHAT KIND OF LSU FAN ARE YOU?

Of course Coach Miles would agree with this BUT that doesn't mean he should be fired if he fails to reach his goal. In fact, if LSU football is 8-4 next year, nobody would expect Miles to be fired, even though he failed to reach his goal.
I don't get your point.
My point is simple: we should be happy with winning records and bowl games. Coach Miles has done much more than that, so, we LSU fans should be REALLY happy.
Why shouldn't we expect perfect, NFL Champion-style play and coaching? Because this is amateur college football not the NFL.

I miss the LSU teams of the '80s & '90s

Any true LSU fan would feel the same way. Those kids played their hearts out for LSU. Back in those days, winning records and bowl game appearances were appreciated.

@Champagne - I've been enlightened by your insight and LSU Football acumen. From now on, I'll only go into 7 games expecting to win and the other 5 I'll expect to lose because a 7 win season is more than enough for us to be thankfull for. Yeeeeeeeeah! Hello Basement Bowl

Hah! You sound like a Bama fan! You derive your self-esteem by rooting for a team that wins the National Championship regularly.
You probably like to go to the grocery store Uptown with your LSU gear on and look down your nose at Tulane students. Get off your high horse.
REAL fans are happy and proud of the team for achieving success. These are only youngsters . . . they are amateurs. Coach Miles does not get angry with them if they lose a game, or win a close one against inferior talent, so, what right do YOU have to replace YOUR judgment for Coach Miles?
Man, you are really full of yourself. You probably yell at your five year old daughter if she fails to dominate in her soccer game.
We are BETTER than that.

Basement Bowl?
And what school did YOU play YOUR college football at, Mr. Football?
GO ROOT FOR BAMA ! They don't tolerate a loss or a close win.

Bronze isn't that bad as long as you are 10-2.

hmmm, winning record when you are the only school playing major college football in the state and you consistently produce the best talent in the country???? Hmmm, winning by gifts from other mediocre teams???? I see what Baton Rouge has the worst schools, roads and politicians. Probably the smallest minds in the free world.

Please don't let this guy convince you that everyone from Baton Rouge or LA is like this.
Go root for Bama ! Then you can kick your dog when they lose one game every two years and win the NC only twice in five years as you worship Saban.

Orly? You play for the LSU Tigers? What is your number?
