When’s the last time a head coach in any sport has been fired less that 10 years removed from winning a national championship?

2018 -- Kevin Ollie (ncaa violations)
2017 -- Rick Pitino (ditto)

That's below par for LSU, I don't care how much you want to argue the line "but college baseball so hard now"....

Les was fired 5 years after playing in the 2011 national championship game.

Like it or not, Paul had LSU in the CWS championship game 2 years ago. Seems miles away and years ago, but that is fact.

I think a lot of fans sense similarities between Les’ decline and where Paul is currently and they want to jump to the perceived (and perhaps obvious) outcome.

Umm nope. It definitely gives them a longer leash, but not a lifetime contract.

uhhh do you know who Les Miles is bro?

Yes? Clearly I was talking about examples other than Miles. Chizik is a good one.

That’s a good example.

Phillip Fulmer at UT

Was fired exactly 10 years removed from an NC.

Coker Brown and Carr are all good examples as well.

Chizik was kind of a weird situation and not typical. He was terrible outside of the one season they payed Cam Newton

Same as yours. No natty, no job. Plain and simple. As LSU fans we deserve nothing but the best. Failure is not to be tolerated. After we fire a few under achievers the word will be out and the incoming coaches will learn the power of the Rant. No more lifetime contracts.

Now then who is this perfect coach you have in mind to follow the woeful Maineri? Let's get him into Baton Rouge today!

Ten years later and the program on fumes. Yea

Well that’s the risk you take with a lifetime contract.

ith Les, We won a championship in a year where we had the best team by far yet still lost to two unranked opponents, one at home on the last game of the year with everything on the line. No doubt the luckiest circumstances occurred with others in getting us the the championship game.

It wasn’t exactly the picture of dominance.

Win an NC, and still bitches about losses during the year.

Final four is 4 teams World Series is 8 plus you can reach the World Series with losses. It’s not the same thing and he’s been to 16 elite 8s in 30 years that’s 53%.
