I would say just demote him and leave him to just being a 3rd base or bench coach but he sucks at that as well.

It is disgraceful for Mainieri to put his friend before the program.

If PM is unwilling to replace Javi, then maybe it's time to start a deathwatch on Paul's time at LSU. One NC does not entitle you to sit on your butt and let things go down like they have the last three years.

2011 season called and wants it's thread back.

If we can upgrade out hitting coach like we did pitching coach this year, we would be very, very hard to beat.

you people are incredible. the dude can't make the ball fall in the hole. they are making solid contact. why don't you try maybe giving credit to the other team every now and then. maybe they are that good. we won the freaking sec for gods sake.

frickin right! Hire the Stoney hitting coach. No matter how much frickin money it costs. I'm tired of waiting all season and getting my heart broke at the end

no this is not my first lsu game. i have been watching lsu baseball for over 25 years, but i also know a good baseball team when i see one. they were very disciplined and a damn good baseball team. you don't get 7 guys drafted by the majors. that was more than us. scouts may just know a little nmore than us. so know this is not my first lsu game and i just think sometimes the other team is better and you have to give them credit. we had a good season. won the sec and made a super regional. nobody is going to do what skip did years back. baseball is different now with all the travel ball. lots of good players everywhere now. maneri has done a good job here.

Do you think all there is to hitting the ball is recruiting talent and telling them to swing away with their eye on the ball?

Sounds like it.

this has nothing to do with this series alone. Javi should have been fired after last year. Our hitting has been spotty and bleeding for 2 years now. And, it appears that when we need it most, it was horrible.

Stony Brook has ridiculous hitters and may have beaten us even if we scored 8 runs a game. But, we will never know because our hitting made it appear that we were going up against Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson.

Javi crowton? Either that or Manieri is carrying a lot of dead weight on the roster. For the most part, I have not been impressed with the hitting of any of the sex teams except UF

Yes...based on last 3 years performance, it is warranted

well Maineri doesnt have room in the outfield for Taylor Dugas but he always finds room for a ton of guys who can't hit and cover about 3 square feet in the OF. And spare me the "we only had room for one OF that year and he chose Mahtook" line of bs.

Well, I think the importance of hitting coaches is over-rated. they should get neither substantial blame when a team isnt hitting nor credit when a team is crushing the ball consistently. What could SB's coach do that is substantially different from other coaches? this kids have been practicing hitting a baseball for half their life at this point. Ultimately, its up to the player, to make that decision in fractions of a second, on whether to swing. There is simply no time to actually think about what they are doing up at the plate or to apply some technique a coach suggested. It's muscle memory, it's reflexes. It's about digging in those spikes at home plate knowing that you're about to have a missile hurled towards you at 90+ mph. Coaches can only do so much.
