I don’t necessarily think it will be a short leash. I think they may use Van Buren anyway in a wildcat or Taysom Hill role.

I’m not sure. It seems like you were implying that his rushing stats weren’t good because of sacks and being under pressure.

Good, Puss needs a fire lit under his arse to get it done. If he is too hurt to do that, then he needs to sit.

Van Buren will win the game against Alabama if given the chance. They haven’t prepped a second for a scrambling qb.

Well they aren’t LSU so it won’t be like some earth shattering thing that has never been seen before.

LSU made scramblers look like it’s some new phenomenon

I don't think he has to be.

He is more athletic

This plus a willingness to take what is there could make a big difference.

MVB doesn’t have positive rushing yds this year?

I don’t remember him ever being sacked for big losses this year when he’s played and he’s made a few pretty good runs.

It’s more of an issue of willingness to run and running instincts than it is athleticism. You saw the spin move on 4th and 9 against Southeastern? Nuss would never do that. MVB has ability to make someone miss that Nuss will never have.

He’s got a long of 12 against Southeastern. The same game that Nuss has a long run of 26. I personally don’t put a ton of stock into the Southeastern game.

Btw I hope he get some playing time. I just think a lot of people on here put too much stock into his running ability behind a bad OL.

Just pointing out his stats which do not indicate a rushing threat, but it was only six starts and taking 20 sacks is alot in only 6 games and 104 yds in 69 rushes is not great either...

but he did show promise as a freshman in those 6 starts...

however his stats from highschool do not indicate a duel threat either...

So you're saying he's more like Burrow? Runs when he needs to?

You don't need a dual threat. You just need an athlete. Nuss if flat out not athletic with his legs. He does not break tackles are allude defenders, and he looks like a wounded gazelle when he does run.
