Out of the ten thousands of pitches Tre Morgan played, he had to make that play once. Jared Jones made a similar play last year. Dumb thread

More speed at 1st? The position you are basically required to keep your foot on the bag? WTF are you talking about?

Tre Morgan is not the prototype at 1st base

he is an anomaly

he’s a middle infielder who unfortunately was born to throw left handed.

Comparing most 1st basement to Morgan is futile.

1st base is for squeezing hitters into the lineup.

He’s proven (in his first 3 years of college) he’s more than capable of playing the position

And that is a valid answer.

What play? The guy didn’t mention a play. He mentioned “plays”. And Tre Morgan made lots of plays Yorke could not make. The right answer is that Yorkes’ lack of mobility, both on defense and running the bases, is made up for by his hitting - same as a thousand other first basemen.

I was waiting for someone to bring up the Wake Forest game in 2023 CWS.

Still one of the best defensive plays you will ever see a first baseman make at any level.

That’s a retarded answer. He didn’t compare Morgan to Yorke. His concern, justified or not, is that Yorke might not be able to make defensive plays at first.

By invoking Tre Morgan.

Moron.

I’ve watched it at least 50 times. It is perfection!

Have you ever heard Tre’s description compared to CJJ’s? Tre said he misunderstood the call and executed the wrong play. According to him, Skenes was supposed to cover the first base side bunt, which would not have been possible for that bunt. But CJJ said it was executed per the call. I’ve never heard anyone clear this up.

First baseman do not have to be mobile. Tre Morgan’s mobility was useless 99% of the time the ball is put into play. Stupid post penny

Sounds like they have to be mobile 1% of the time.

And it was a smart post, Lester.

Bump, I was at the game yesterday. Yorke can flat out make picks and scoops in all variations at 1st base. He receives the ball(poor throws) from the infielders like a pro. I guess we will see when balls are hit to him, but this is one area he is very solid. He also appears to move well for a big guy as demonstrated by his base running.

It’s actually insane how we still have fans that doubt Jay’s personnel decisions at this point.

I think its just twinks who are upset that a “big boy” is more athletic than they ever were.

They’ll be some double play situations that probably won’t go our way because of him. However, I’m willing to take that for his home run ability and potential good first base play.
