Smart is a LA prospect, he's good friends with many of the top guys who committed, plus Will Wade turned this team around in one year with a clear disadvantage in roster. There's your recruiting tactics.

If these blue blood schools were allowed to use their tactics for years, what signal does that send to a young Will Wade, even if he is trying to compete with them, using the same type of tactics? This is their fault for allowing it for so damn long and letting it get to this level. If LSU is even remotely touched by this, the lawyers need to come out of the wood work and investigate the investigators. I'll bet big money that they have some of those guys involved in all this as well.

That's EXACTLY what it sounds like. Could Wade and his staff have done some nefarious things? Absolutely. But the report comes out with big, bold headlines, saying Wade is/was under investigation...then quietly concedes the "investigation stalled" because there was no actual proof of anything. Just conjecture...which is what most "journalist" deal with these days.

You have to remember, the media business is changing and "journalist" are both a dime a dozen and a dying breed. They all have delusions of grandeur that they are going to be this generation's muckrakers. Unfortunately, for them, information has never been more widely available and easy to access by the general public. It's why fewer and fewer people are reading newspapers, watching ESPN, etc. reading websites such as SI.com, Yahoo, etc. We can get that information from other sources. So now they are left with having to sustained their livelihood in a dying industry. To do so they have to "create" the news rather than report the news. And where do you think the information they use to create the news comes from? Coaches. That's their sources.

I suspect Wade is aggressive in his recruiting. Hell, everything about his persona leads to that conclusion. Unfortunately for other coaches his efforts are paying off...Waters, Smart, Reid, Days, Williams. No doubt he is rubbing some other coaches the wrong way. But you show me a great recruiter and I'll show you a guy who other coaches don't like (jealously in a cutthroat business).
