re: Will Wade = Kirby Smart of Basketball?

Absolutely. Period. You cannot win close games without a PG who can control the game and make good decisions. Perfect example is late in the USC game Smart beats his defender off the dribble and actually has him beat. He then stops and throws up a step back 3. He's shooting 20% from the arc! That is why you lose a game instead of winning it.

What does Dick Vital think?

We had good leads in the Utah St. and USC games, but once those teams made a good play or two and started to get momentum, Jovonte had back to back bad shots and turnovers and next thing you know its a one possession game. You can look at bonehead plays by him against VCU too. If Jovonte has his head out of his arse this year we have 1or 2 losses this year. Etsu kicked our arse in every way

I think the jury is out on this assessment. He can recruit.

We took a step back because we lost two nba players and the administration hindered the program. It’s not like football where the same 5 teams are the best every year... take Texas tech as an example. Did you watch Johnny Jones? We didn’t even run in bounds plays... Will is a fine in game coach

If you think about it, he had that same mentality last year, the difference was Waters was able to take control and slow it down. How many times do you recall Tremont taking the ball from Smart and motioning to “slow it down”. It would have been the same shite show last year if not.

It’s hard to ignore the fact he won an SEC Championship in his second year with the program. He recruited players to fit his vision for what he wanted for an offense and addressed a deficiency in rebounding and rim protection.
My criticism of him is he didn’t come close to replacing those guys from last year and is trying to incorporate the same philosophy. 6’6 Emmitt Williams is trying to play 6’11 KBW’s role. Jevonte Smart is trying to play Waters’ role and Watford is trying to step into Reid’s role. And it’s not working.
I’m disappointed that we played a European Tour, 2 scrimmages and 11 games and we’re still turning the ball over like we’re playing a summer pick up game with nothing on the line. Im disappointed that we have 5 key contributors back from an SEC Championship team, a top 20 overall McDonald’s all-American player and a really good JUCO transfer addition and we’ve lost 4 games to currently unranked teams. I’m disappointed that we have a roster of guys that can supposedly shoot from outside and we’re ending up 3-17 behind the arc. Likewise, I’m disappointed that in year three we still can’t employ a defense that can close out on three point shooters, so that a team that averages 6 a game ends up hitting 11 against us, which seems to happen often.
I know you can make some comparisons between this team’s early season chemistry problems and last year’s team before they found themselves but I just don’t see that success repeating if we’re going to try to play the same philosophy with players that can’t fill the same roles.
Just my frustrated take on this year’s results to this point.

You gotta bitch about something

We'll see about Kirby. He did so well I recruiting this past signing day because negative recruiting LSU and showing recruits a signed contract that Brady is going to be OC at GA next season.

we are taking a step back this season.
It appears that way at this time, but it's early. Also I think most fans expected a slight step back after winning the conference, going to the sweet 16 and losing two of your top players to the NBA.

Nobody cares about last year. This year, the team's coaching and recruiting deficiencies are obvious.
I want Wade to be a success, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen.

I’m not even convinced he is a good recruiter. I mean, sure, give him enough money and he will get a few blue chips

I’m really in shock about this. I’ve followed LSU athletics for years now and have never seen the hype for a coach like Wade and now we have people saying stuff like this? I mean, my goodness.

You can't be serious? In 8 months or so WW has totally forgotten how to coach and recruit? You probably wish Alleva and FKing were still making decisions at LSU to implode whomever coaches at LSU.

that's the problem ... it was all hype. Coach O couldn't catch a break (with a few exceptions) and many posters were anointing Wade as the greatest coach LSU had (and the best one currently).
It is not hype with Coach O, nor with Joe Burrow. I've noticed those who hyped up Wade have largely disappeared with Coach O's success.

You are literally too stupid to insult.

Your argument or whatever you're saying makes no sense. LSU won the SEC last year and beat teams who were more talented. They lost a few players who are in the NBA right now and three of their four losses were by 2 points. LSU is not Kentucky or Duke in basketball. We don't reload at that level.
