Will the Offensive play calling change radically due to a freshman qb?

I mean hopefully it would if Johnson starts, probably shouldn't if Finley does

I hope it doesnt. Throw one in the fire and see what he can do. Bringing them along slow will only hold them back

It will depend on what the coaches think they can do. And none of us really know that yet.

I am more concerned about the defense.

Get ready to establish the run game, with play action thrown in. Whatever gets the W.

Do the backups practice a different offense than Myles Brennan? Also they have nothing to lose so why not keep up what’s been working this year.

It’s the defense that needs a change in play calling

Change from what? A big change would be to chunk to the backs a bit. High % passes a must! I do not trust this OL! Go 5 wide's and run out of it.
No identity on either side of the ball.

Probably more wr screens and quick perimeter game. Boutte could have a nice game. I would like to see the package with Marshall in the backfield again.

I could see more designed QB draws for Max.

There's a difference between "dumbing down" and "playcalling". I agree with you in the sense they shouldn't simplify it or dumb it down for them because the offense is built around a philosophy and to take out pieces to simplify it is no longer the same offense.

They should, and will, change the playcalling to play to the strengths of whichever QB is playing while maintaining the same reads and philosophy.

Without that attacking and read-based centered offense we're back to 2018 (and prior) offenses. And I can't help but point out that those offenses were anything but QB friendly and didn't do much to develop them either.

This, but we need more than the coveted zone read up the middle. Maybe someone came up with more than 1 running play over 2 weeks.

learned a loooooong time ago that you NEVER coach scared. If youre coaching scared, the players see it, youre the leader, no one can get behind you if you coach scared...2nd, they are men, treat them like men, stop babying them thinking they cant perform the same. The cream will rise to the top, always does. Call the same game you would if Brennan was there.. you were already going to work on running the ball but you take what the defense gives you. They are going to load the box sat with 8 guys daring that freshman to throw. you shove it up their arse by throwing the ball... if one cant do it, put the other one in... dont coach scared...
