Thinking of going catch an Astros game at the end of the month. They will be playing the Pirates. Any idea if Skenes will be pitching of those games?

July 29-31

I think I did some drunken math in my head one night and convinced myself he will make a start, so I went ahead and took PTO for that series.

Do the math according to their schedule and rotation then get back to us.

Thanks

Skenes will be slotted to pitch the 2nd game against the Astros on July 30th if their current rotations and time off stands as is.

You’re welcome.

And take the time to spell Paul’s name correctly in the thread title.

May depend on if they reset the rotation after the break. Some do depending on upcoming schedule

Yep that throws a wrinkle into just mapping out the regular 5 man rotation.

Other Thread on this subject

We already did this. He's on a rotation to pitch on July 29th in Houston. However, the Pirates held Jared Jones out from his start last week and they will likely do the same with Skenes at some point b/c they don't want the rookie arms throwing too much. Skenes would be slated to start July 17th which is during the all star break. So until we see what they do after the break, there is no way to know what to expect. Even then, the pirates didn't announce him as tomorrow's starter until mid-day today.

tl;dr No way to know.

July 29th would be his day. He's been pitching every 6 days (5 days rest). He is pitching tomorrow. LINK

June 5 <- pitched this game on 6 days rest
June 11 - 5 days rest
June 17 - 5 days rest
June 23 - 5 days rest
June 29 - 5 days rest
July 5 - 5 days rest
July 11
July 17 (all star break)
July 23
July 29 <- when he should pitch if the all star break doesn't mess that up

It’s silly trying to predict this before the all star break.

He will pitch in the all star game, so that could change things.

Also, the Pirates could easily rearrange their rotation after the break.

Pirates put Jones on the 15 day DL yesterday. That and possibly resetting of the rotation after the All Star break could change things.

The Pirates pitching rotation will change after the All Star Break. I can see Skenes starting the first or second game after the All Star break.

It will just depend on how they handle him coming out of the break. If he's first or second in the rotation then he should but if they hold him back for a couple of days then he will miss Houston.

Why? Didn’t you say the same in the other thread?
