Railroad Right-of-Way owners are in a complete different universe than the DOTD. This and also the Utility relocations are why widening anywhere up and down Nicholson has been the impossible dream, let alone the Constructability of it under traffic.

Would be a Sequence of Construction Nightmare trying to maintain any sort of sense of traffic while being built.

Get your Senator that's on the Transportation, Highway Committee to get it put in the 5 Yr. Plan to get a cost estimate, some bids, and get it in the plan. It's a slow process, but can happen.

Nicholson is an abomination of a road and should be completely revamped. I avoid it like the Plague and I live within walking distance to it

Both FIU and UM are building pedestrian bridges down here in Miami. FIU's width is greater than UM's therefore the higher costs, but FIU's is more ADA compliant than UM's.

FIU Pedestrian Bridge 9M +

UM US1 Crossover 6M +

You've got a 4 lane divided highway that is hazmat certified, then a 30 foot pipeline servitude, then a railroad, then a major electrical transmission line.

While not impossible, it would be more than just running a bridge across there 35 feet above street level.

I'd imagine the railroad tracks would probably impede on building a decent one
That and the bridge would have to be >25 ft. high for the big rigs that come thru.

Unfortunately, I don't foresee a bridge across Nicholson being built until there is a tragedy which forces LSU's hand.

No. Mainly bc of the number of 18 wheelers that come through there and it would be an eyesore.

Yes 18 wheelers can go under bridges but I'm talking about large loads.

Because they know lsu fans are too fat and lazy to climb stairs to cross a bridge... They would make a point to even walk right under it

A tunnel is probably more likely than a bridge, but to counter, you could end the bridge between the road and the railroad tracks to avoid interactions with the railroad and transmission lines.

BTW, this intersection has also been proposed to have a roundabout, which somewhat complicates it more.
