Burreauxx when someone pointed out Dreiling was going to get drafted;

quote:

Probably but far from certain. He has leverage and could easily bet on himself and make a few milli next year while still having leverage with another good season. Get some NIL dollars and work towards his degree in the meantime, rather than bussing around A ball.

burreaux when Jones returns and he has to find a reason for him not to be a star:

quote:

If he was a baller he would’ve been drafted. MLB just validated me essentially by saying you’re not ready, try again another year in college

Without Jones and Herring, I don’t see any obvious All SEC players tbh.

I stand by that. Most thought Jones was gone but it was never a lock. Very well could have been that MLB teams didn't value him as high as he thought they would.

Since this post, we added at least 1 arm and 1 position player that could be All SEC level players next season. That changes this conversation from what it was a few weeks ago.

naw I very clearly stated being a star in college for LSU is all that matters -- not MLB draft stock etc.

A guy who will likely hit 25+ HRs at LSU next season fits the criteria of being that star you need to return to the lineup

That does not mean he was a star prospect to the MLB because he very clearly was not or he would have been drafted. Both can be true. Duplantis was never a MLB prospect but he was a vital piece to those LSU teams he was on, and that's all that matters to me.

you did say being a star in college is all that matters.

But you won’t outright say Jones is a star now that he returned.

quote:

Nice to have him back. Good college-level slugger. Will he be a star? I think it’s fair to call him one entering the season. But depends on his development and if we can get him protection. I’m optimistic he will be an above average SEC 3-4 hole hitter.

He hit .300 and 28 HR. He was second team All SEC.

he’s a star.

Well he was an above average SEC 3-4 hole hitter this year. So unless we see a major regression from him and the entire league takes a major step up, it’s safe to say he’ll be firmly above average.

No I said he qualifies as a star, however, will that actually translate into star-level performance in 2025, which could depend on a number of things like how strong the lineup is around him

Just look at how much Tanks performance dropped this season without great hitters around him

he started slow because he didn’t hit all offseason.

You are saying Jones with his .1200 OPS (1100+ for his career at LSU), 28 HRs and a .300* AVG “fits the criteria” and WAS A STAR IN 2024.
OTHERWISE, NONE OF THE PLAYERS FROM 2023 HAD THEY RETURNED INCLUDING SKENES, CREWS, AND MORGAN WOULD HAVE BEEN.CONSIDERED “STARS”. FURTHERMORE, BY YOUR DEFINITION WHITE WAS NOT A STAR LAST SEASON DESPITE BEING DRAFTED IN THE SLOT. HE JUST FIT A CRITERIA.

They just fit a criteria so you can save face for being the fricking moron that you are who knows NOTHING ABOUT THE GAME.

LSU hasn’t had a player hit 28 homers since 2008?

And he returned.

7 of the top 100 D1 draft prospects for 2025, but likely to have no All SEC players? LOL, just wait and let Jay put the roster together. Give him a couple of months after the season was over at least. You put yourself in company with Magician2 and nicholastiger.

False.

False what? I quoted your sorry arse and your sorry arse “fricking criteria”. Jones hit .300 with a .1200 OPS and 28 fricking HR last season and isn’t a star!
White wasn’t a returning star and neither would have been ANY PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDING THE frickERS ON THE WALL IN WALKER and FURNISS.
Give it up dumbass.
Serious question: Are you a 12 y/o girl?
