A lot of SEC teams we played were without their QB and rebuilding.
The same could be said of LSU. JJ, the king of garbage, has finally been dethroned. We now have our QB. We've seen what we can do with no quarterback and a tough schedule. Now we'll have Mett and easier schedule. I like our chances!

No, I think that LSU has a tougher road to the title this season than 2011.
The team has to replace a bunch of players on both sides of the ball. Most people (including myself) feel that the players are being replaced by ones that could potentially be much better. However, until we see how they perform on the field there is no way to be completely confident. Ryan Baker and Brandon Taylor were really solid players that have to be replaced on top of Claiborne and Brockers. Offense also has to break in new starters at QB (one spot that can't be worse, right?), TE, WR, and the OL.
Assuming that the offense improves and the defense can duplicate the magic of 2011, it still may not be enough to overcome the schedule. Home games against top 10 teams, Bama and USCe, in addition to road games against Arkansas, Florida, and Auburn. Make it through those games unblemished then you get an improved UGA or rematch w/ USCe in Atlanta.

replacing Mo Claiborne is the biggest question mark for me. hopefully Simon steps up into that lock-down CB role, because TM7 isn't a good cover corner that's for sure.

Look at the game objectively without alcohol. There was a noticeable increase in tempo and changed play-calling. True, it only lasted a few plays before JJ lost his mind, but it definitely happened.
No, it didnt happen. JJ had 17 pass attempts (with only 11 completed), yet he had 14 rushing attempts (mostly from the dumb arse option play calling). You would think down 7 then 14 then 21, that we would have attempted to pass the ball downfield with whomever at QB to at least give us a fighting shot. But we didnt, aka, we gave the frick up.
Reading all these posts today praising Miles, is sickening to me.
Most people on here will not admit it, but the main reason we did not have 1 top 100 player or none of the top 4 LA players, is mainly because of this unexplanable, bush league game plan. But I have said this over and over for 3 weeks now, and people tell me to get over it, but I just cant seem to, until I see a legit improvement on offense from a Miles coached LSU team.

Yeah, I think that Mathieu can and will improve in coverage, but without a lockdown CB on the other side the way Chavis uses him will be much more limited.

Why?
Are you going to carry that hate around forever? Geez, man, I get annoyed with him occasionally but he's the coach.
Yes, you do need to get over it. I'm not saying this as a F you or anything but man, that's shite's going to burn you down.
Stop with the 1/9 garbage. See the topic of this thread. Focus on that.
Anytime 1/9 jumps in your head, say shut up and go back to this coming season.

Im trying man, believe me, im trying. This past season was a legit case of too good to be true. Kinda like, dating the woman of your dreams for 4 months, then finding out she is a fricking transvestite or something.
But you are right, the topic of this thread is focusing on 2012, and maybe 2011 and the three years prior was just a fricked up case of having 2 average or below average QBs on your team. I blame Ryan Perrilloux!

We'll be fine, man.
I'm excited as hell to see Mett, and only Mett, out there airing the thing out to Boone, Wright, Shep, OBJ, Clement/Dickson.... and our RB's..... damn.
I wish the first game was tomorrow!

You and me both! I guess I dwell on shite too much. Just think if I actually still lived in south La, how I would be? At least up here, I can take my frustrations out on skiing fresh powder, mtn biking awesome singletrack, or surfing tasty waves.

I'll be alright though. I just still have issues with Miles and no one else at all.

Cool, man. I didn't even notice you were in Oregon.
Pretty part of the country up there.
Where are you from in La?

I was born and raised in Amite (Tangipahoa Parish).
Partied hard, playing rugby, etc., at Southeastern, then finally started studying and graduated from LSU in 2004, then moved out west.

But, I guess I have been spoiled the last 8 years or so. I went through the tough times of Hallman, etc. and as a child witnessed Chollie Mac days. My dad says Miles stubbornness reminds him a lot of the Chollie Mac days.
Posted on 2/2/12 at 1:09 am to RighteousTiger
I understand, man. We just have to back the team. We're hardly the program we were in the Hallman days.
Cheer for your team. Do what you want to do, not what your dad would do. Not a knock on your dad, at all. Please don't take it that way.
I'm ready to open a can on other teams and it's 6 more months!

JJ package. Lol. That's a "delivery attempted" if I've ever seen one.

Problem is Bama will not be our most difficult game. They lose almost the entire defense plus Maze and Richardson. Arky on the road is going to be a frickin' war.

Schedule sets up nice... A real qb... And bama at home.... We will be in Miami (if miles doesn't have another brain fart)

It is never "easy" to get to the MNC. Just sayin'.

not so sure about that. the new guys have talent and should have had a good amount of time to get acclimated to playing bigger roles.

them and what army? won't be easy, but I ain't scurred.
and similar to Bama, our new faces will be 11 games into being big contributors. the offense will be in full stacked mode, with the Zach attack rolling ppl.
