If you don't understand why people are expecting LSU to be better in 2025, then I don't think anyone can help you. Our QB going into his second full season is one reason. The number 1 ranked transfer portal class is another, but what's the point explaining.

Anyone who thinks this is the same defense doesn't have a clue.
We have had sub standard talent on defense the last 3 years, I don't want to start listing players who were not LSU level talent that played for us in that time but that is not fair to them and not necessary, but I think most folks who watched closely know.
We have upgraded the talent on defense SIGNIFICANTLY to where we know have the type of talent we've come to know and expect at LSU the last 20 years before these most recent ones.
Anyone who does not recognize that is not following who we've brought in and who is coming back

You either haven't paid attention or don't know shite about football. Probably both.

You start with an entirely flawed premise:
That transfers somehow don't count.

Our QB, RB, and wide receivers are very good, but basically will be the same output as last year.

Lots of people said the same thing going into 2019...

They should be better just due to some upgrades on D and experience. Nuss started for a whole year (the first year is always the toughest). The WR group adds size and even more speed now with the transfers. And Hilton was hurt for most of last year and then took a few games to get his timing right. In those last few games, he showed that he can be a major weapon over the top to open the rest of the field up.
O-line is obviously the biggest question. We have to see there. RB group might need more depth, but the starter has great potential for long runs. The OC was also inexperienced last year and has experience now.
On D, the D-line should be much better just based on the transfers. Having Weeks and Perkins healthy along with a more experienced Keys who made some major plays at the end of last year should provide the best LB core we have had in a while. The DBs also upgraded with some new guys including Pickett, the #1 CB recruit in the nation.
Our kicker is solid (wish he could kick longer than 50 yards), but we have the nation's leading kick returner and SEC record holder in kick return TDs joining the team along with a number of speed burner punt returners. Punter is a ?, but otherwise, special teams should be much more dangerous and dynamic this year.
So all in all, the O-line and punter are the biggest questions going into this season. The rest should be mostly more experienced and better than last year.

I think 2019 ruined a lot of people views of what a good football team should look like. They can’t all be all time great.
LSU is getting a lot of hype because they have a 5th year senior QB going into his 2nd year of starting that three for 4000 yards last year. If he even improves a little bit he will be a heisman finalist.
The offense is loaded with weapons, thats self explanatory.
The oline, while new for this team, has a center with 2 years starting experience and seems to be doing well. 2 guards with starting experience. And 2 tackles who were high four star recruits. No freshman btw. It is about as good as you can ask for after losing 4 guys to the NFL quite honestly.
The defense is projected to be much improved in the 2nd year under Blake Baker.
I’m personally drinking the cool aid on the front 7. I think this could be our best dline/front 7 since 2011. The depth on the dline is crazy good. Best depth we have had since Les Miles days for sure.
A lot of people keep forgetting Harold Perkins is on the team in his fourth year. He is moved back to his best position and could be one of the best defensive players in the country is used right.
CB/S should be improved. Especially if the pass rush is as good as people are saying it is. We brought is a CB with a couple years starting experience and a Safety with 259 career tackles.
This team is old too. Most of the starters are in year 3,4,5. And the sophomores that are going to play are legit NFL dudes in a couple years. This isn’t a growing year with a bunch of freshman playing.
I’m not guaranteeing a national championship, but if you can’t be hyped about this team something is wrong with you.
