It is most definitely possible that Racey improved over the past few seasons, is a 1st round pick, AND is still the 3rd best WR on the team.

You are being a fan. I get it.

But no, that isn't logical reasoning and not most definitely possible. 1st round players do not get passed up by 2 younger guys and another guy in your class (jefferson). I respect those guys' talents. But McMath has shown nothing in 3 years that leads you to believe he is a 1st round pick. LSU fans need to stop. Let's start with being a solid contributor to the team in some fashion as a WR3 or WR4. Really, should be moved back to TE, but doesnt seem like its in the plans.

Chase, Jefferson, and Marshall can/ should all be 1st round picks, so being passed by them is no shame. All I am saying is that Racy has a shot at being a high- maybe 1st round choice.

I don’t think it’s shameful at all, he just isn’t a 1st rd pick level player. I think he has a role but he is a stiff hipped guy that only runs linear routes.

I mean LSU threw for 61tds last year and he had almost no relevant involvement. Can we just lay off the 1st rd stuff, that’s all. After watching Jefferson & Chase you guys should know what a 1st rd WR looks like.

Yep, how many senior 1st round WRs basically barely ever contributed anything before their senior year? I bet that's a pretty short list

Yea he’s really good. I think it’s funny all the downvotes I’m getting because this board has a man crush on Trey Palmer and doesn’t understand that the Marshall being moved to the slot increases his role a ton.

Palmer is going to be a good receiver, but Boutte is just better. Those two will be holding down for next because Kirklin and McMath are seniors, and Marshall and Chase will go pro.

Hell, Jaray Jenkins got playing time over Palmer last year too.

I think of Chark but even he was the 2nd leading WR as a Jr with something like 25 catches. But that was just a shitty passing game. Didn’t really speak to his talents, but his numbers weren’t great.

Just about all of LSU’s former 1st rd picks showed early & you knew it. Even guys like Lafell & Doucet

That’s your 3 best and most experienced guys right now. I like it. I also think McMath outside helps run game....go watch Clyde highlights and see him downfield.

Chase is more likely to move into the slot than Marshall

He had the challenge last year. He has good hands any way. The move is not to get Racy outside as a starter, but to get Marshall in the slot. He runs great patterns and is just as fast as Jets but is taller and stronger. He will be a nightmare in that position for any safety.

Nah they used Marshall in the slot a good bit last year and he was effective. Chase should stay right where he’s at. But, I would imagine they’ll all line up in multiple spots based on personnel and match ups

As evidenced in the past, the bulk of the snaps will go to the guys that know the playbook best.

If they're all on top of the playbook, Chase is the only clear #1 guy. Marshall can definitely be that #2 guy but he'll be pushed by others. No way Marshall isn't top 3, though. The 3rd spot may be McMath's to lose but he'll also get pushed, and the others will still get plenty of snaps.

This bag of riches gives us the opportunity to really disguise looks. While teams may be able to pick up on formations, we can move guys around to create some doubt on the actual play call and progression.

Jefferson was in the slot like 85% of the time. Who else interchanged there between then varied. So not exactly a good bit. He’s not a natural slot WR & is much better on the outside

I have to agree with Lester here. Although Lester says it’s “not most definitely possible”. He’s wrong on that, but right overall. It’s highly unlikely that Racey, after being consistently beat out by Jefferson, who is a borderline first rounder, and then getting beaten out by TWO younger guys, would end up being a first round pick.

If it was just Chase and Jefferson who beat him out I’d think it was more likely. Chase would beat out Jarvis Landry and Odell, and maybe Jefferson just had the technique down earlier. But Marshall too?
