If said RF gives you best chance to win and is ready to play in eyes of the coaches, why not? Not saying the RF should start because I’m not at practice and I’m not BK.

Why is a sixth-year senior involved in a qb battle?

Because he hasn't played in a long, long while.
And there's a new thing called the transfer portal that seems to be always open for any player that thinks he hasn't gotten a fair shot a starting. Call the top three too early and you can end up without a back up and start WR's at QB if not too careful.

We could be just as concerned if there were no battle and only one qb was capable of starting. I think it was Arkansas that named their starter on the Monday before the opener and made out pretty well last year.

So, if you’re not happy with Kelly wanting to start Nussmeier, who do you think should start?

I agree, Tommy Hodson was a disaster.

it still is not the norm either is it? are most QB's starting as freshman now?

Semantics. The current redshirt rule is only a few years old. In the past, Nuss would be a sophomore having started a game as late in the season as he did. He’s not same as a true freshman or an redshirt freshman who never saw the field in year one.

50.9 percent completion 2 TD & 2 Int with a 31.8 QB LMAO You really think he gives us a better chance to win?

Allergic to context, I see. You keep throwing this stat line out there as if it means something. Daniels posted a fricking 21 QBR in the Utah game in 2019. Yes, he was a true freshman, but they was also his best season, by far. Like Nuss, he was thrown to the wolves vs a defense that was too much for what he was capable of and he got his arse beat. And don’t pretend Brennan didn’t look like a deer in headlights for a chunk of his first start vs State.

You act like we have an obvious option who has tons of experience and has never struggled. That isn’t the case. All three of our potential QBs have sucked badly in a game before and have obvious flaws.

The starter will be chosen based on their growth this off-season, because they ALL NEED IT.

Man we spent a decade yelling about Miles playing players due to seniority, and now these guys want our coaches to play a player due to seniority

If that isn’t proof that we’ll never be happy, idk what is

JJ was because Lee kept throwing pick-sixes, on a team that could have won 9-10 games with defense and the running game.

They won 8 games as it was. Jefferson would not have been the difference in 2 other games, and may have cost a game early in the season.

think Howard is ready in 2024, so I kinda figure the setup will be to get there. Daniels does that. Brennan doesn't get you 2023, and if it's Nuss, you're pushing Howard back another year.

I don't think you get very far as a coach by "setting up" two years down the line like that. Do you have to have a plan for the future, yes. But you don't mortgage the present to get there. You play the best QB available and if by 2024 you have both Nussmeier and Howard, and Howard is better, you hand over the keys.

Not saying Nussmeier should start, but freshmen seem to be kicking arse at QB at a lot of Power 5 schools. Puzzling that LSU was never in that number.

don't forget Manziel and Jameis also won the Heisman as redshirt freshmen.

Redshirt freshman QB start all over the country, and play extremely well.

The "age" excuse doesn't work anymore, and hasn't for many, many years.

I want the best QB on the roster to start. I don’t care if he’s a true freshman or a 6th year super senior.

It’s a football team …not a frat house …you don’t get to start because you’ve been there the longest
