Hey pawl long time listener, first time caller here. But can someone tell me why Sully would be willing to leave behind

-a higher salary
-in a more talent-rich state
-that he grew up in and calls home
-with no state taxes
-at a program he built
-that has more recent success
-in a brand new ball park
-and an athletic dept that isn’t exactly without an ongoing controversy right now?

And please use logic other than “fan support” because he would’ve had that at Texas and South Carolina...two other offers he dismissed before his new ball park was built

I don’t buy the scandal rumors because someone posted a screencap of that stuff when he was rumored for SC back in 2017

Been trying all weekend to wrap my head around what irrefutable advantages he’d have with us over UF

Maybe he’ll make more here at LSU. For all we know he could’ve been offered $2 mil a year

What I heard on the off the field issues on Sully.

He was having an affair. The husband found out and killed their kids (Sully's mistress) and himself.

So.. Do we want this baggage?

I hope he doesn’t come so we aren’t subjected to this nickname for who knows how long.

But he was invited to speak at the kid’s funeral...?

Reports from D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers and The Gainesville Sun’s Kevin Brockway revealed on Wednesday that O’Sullivan’s new deal is a massive one, providing him annual compensation of $1.25 million and running through the 2025 season.

Basically same as PM (1.225)
I’m sure if LSU wants him they will come up with the money

I’m curious what happens with ex wife & kids
Does he leave his young kids?
Does she follow him for the kids benefit?

I’m sure there are divorced coaches all over the country, just curious how they deal with job changes & young kids.

LSU would pay him more than $1.4 million. shite, the AD just paid a WBB coach $2.5 million per year!

True. But baseball recruiting isn't like basketball and football with schools being allowed to give out full scholarships. Guys from out of state may be more willing to leave if an OOS school can offer more money. Hell, LSU's #2 hole hitter was one of the best HS players in Florida to come out in his senior class.

Can't argue there

Ultimately, it may be just to get a sense of appreciation for your work. He's had tremendous success at Florida for 10+ years. Yet, the fanbase is, at best, apathetic. Coming to LSU means coming to a place that absolutely wants to commit to being great at baseball and supporters that will fully appreciate all the work the HC has done.

If you can get paid the same at both places and have the same level of success (it's not like LSU has been bad over the last 10 years) then the question becomes what separates the two jobs? Perhaps for O'Sullivan it comes down to simple appreciation for what you do. LSU has shown for decades they will appreciate great success. On the flip side, Florida has shown for decades they don't really care. O'Sullivan saw that first hand while defeating LSU for the NC. The park was PACKED with LSU fans for the championship series. Florida had little more than friends and family at the games. Had LSU won Maineri would have been hailed as a hero to thousands. Florid DID win and most of the fanbase thought "Well, that's nice"

2019 Fans Per Game
1. LSU: 10,555
2. Ole Miss: 8,911
3. Mississippi State: 8,586
4. Arkansas: 8,344
5. South Carolina: 5,998
6. Texas: 5,889
.
.
.
13. Florida: 3,824

While Texas & South Carolina average more fans per game than Florida, they are still both significantly lower than LSU.

Um, respectfully, there is no baggage. The Truth won't ever be fully known if other side is deceased.

The previous guy that listed attendance numbers is correct. Florida doesn’t care about baseball. They did get a new stadium, that’s just because their old one was an embarrassment to the SEC. So, he is king of his kingdom, but coming to LSU he can lead an empire.....

what baggage? he fricked around with a ho and her crazy cucked hubby found out and offed the whole family because he couldnt handle it.

fricking a willing ho is not now or should ever be a character flaw you use to hire coaches by

PS - all you downvoters are idiot hypocrites because if you arent then you better start demanding sean peyton gets fired because he cheated on his wife with a cheerleader and yall were perfectly fine about it at the time and said nothing. as long as she isnt underage or is being raped, then it shouldnt matter who a coach has sex with

You guys really think better attendance trumps everything he currently has? More fans cuts both ways btw...fans can turn loud if he doesn’t win, whereas at UF fans be like “oh well, maybe next year. pay the man anyway”

HCs change jobs for more resources...while he has everything he needs, new ballpark included.

If we wanted a NC winning coach who’d love to have a CLEAR advantage in resources and a salary bump...why aren’t we talking about Coastal’s or Oregon State’s coaches?
