Last year when he took over as oc...in the remaining 8 or so games...lsu's offensives stats were the most prolific ever at Lsu in over 20 years

Why didn't we keep him as play caller?

1. it would have made sense
2. got to impress/overpay boosters with a "sexy" name
hire with less overall experience than Ensminger

If I remember correctly the deal to hire coach O required that they hire a big name as OC. Otherwise O wouldn't get a shot. Ensminger wasn't it. Even though he's been one before and did an excellent job. I don't even know if he wanted to be considered. There was some talk of that too.

He didn't want it. I can't blame him.

IIRC, Ensminger came out publicly saying he didn't want the OC job because he wouldn't be with his family enough.

This board would have lost their shite had he kept his OC position.

The only reason that sounds like a good idea now is because we're doing so bad on offense. If, at the time they hired O as HC, he announced Ensminger as OC, we'd have tore him a new one. The whole point of canning miles was to do something new and exciting on offense.

We scored 10 points total against UF and Bama. He did great against teams with mediocre to bad defenses.

Although, generally I wouldn't blame him for the UF performance, that went way more on the players.

Because hindsight is 20/20. This board would have self-destructed had we not chased a sexy hire. That being said, I feel we perform better to this point if he was maintained as the OC.

I was certainly led to believe he was a sexy hire by reading everyone’s reaction to his hire.

Because an interview binder with OC = Ensminger in it won't get you $12M buyout.

He's smarter than Coach O. He used to be regarded as a "thinking man's quarterback".

And he might very well be a great OC but how would we be able to tell in the toxic environment this year at LSU? Even Aranda is looking average and we know that isn't true.

Lsu nation would have flipped the faaaak out if O didn't make a sexy hire at OC. Then he panics and pulls the plug partially a few games in. Dumb dumb dumb. As this offense improves if they get to humming O is gonna look like an idiot. I bet the staff is so divided it's ridiculous

Because O knew the fans wanted a new OC.

I have a pretty good feeling that Canada isn't the problem.

While pretty much everyone respected the job that Ensminger did last year, pretty much nobody wanted to keep him as offensive coordinator.

Pretty much nobody looked at last year's offense as a juggernaut. And, the passing game was still anemic.

Are you suggesting that you'd want him as OC?
