His runs were 1, 2, 2, 2, 1, -3, 1, 49.
So you're saying he's capable of busting a big play 1 out of every 8 touches?

for the 2nd bowl game in a row, we have a pitiful offensive output and refuse to even try something different.
shep is something different, why not at least TRY him? at least use all your bullets

As Lester said:
quote:
I feel like a broken record when ever this comes up, but Shep was best used as runner out of the backfield. He had several explosive plays, esp as a freshman, but his carries declined every year from there, as they forced him to be a traditional WR. Was he good at that? No, not really.
Carries per year:
FR: 45, 6.2 YPC SOPH: 32, 7.1 YPC JR: 7, 7..4 YPC SR: 20, 8.1 YPC
JC Copeland got more carries than Shep this year. Shep will leave LSU with 104 career carries, for 6.9 YPC. Yes, nearly 7 fricking yards every time he touches the ball. That is a goddamn travesty. He should carry the ball 50-75 times per year. Would have been a great wrinkle for the offense.
I dont know how people can say "oh i just didnt see why he was so highly rated"... Honestly, what are you watching? Kid made many explosive plays lining up in the backfield or coming in motion.

maybe because the coaching staff knows a bit more than a bunch of fans who have never coached, played or been a part of a program above jr high
That could definitely be true, but then again those same coaches chose to pass the ball when they needed two yards to win a bowl with a RB averaging 10+ yards per rush.
So maybe they're not the gods of all football knowledge...

Not every time he touches the ball.

Don't play. You get my point.

WR Shepard's 40 is faster than Landry and Boone. His vertical is higher than obj and Boone. He has talent. He should be playing over boone and wright. He should be the 3rd WR. He could be a slot receiver in certain formations.

So because he runs a 4.3 means he should automatically be in the rotation?
What about route running and the amazing amount of drops.
I don't know about you guys, but I like a WR that drops balls and has trouble with getting separation from DBs.

Prom, you still think Les is the GOAT?
Posted on 1/2/13 at 11:46 am to Prominentwon
He is listed at 6'1 195. thats close to 180 for sure. Same frame as landry. Taller than Boone and OBJ. More talent than anyone except obj

No, i really don't. 7ypc isn't some subjective stat.
the dude fricking averaged 7 ypc and got less touches every year.
Its like Hill averaging 10ypc vs. Clemson then not seeing the ball in the 4th.
Or J. Lee having a tremendous completion pct. then getting benched for Jefferson.
Its a pattern of sitting what works.

No use in even trying. He wouldve won a heisman here if it werent for Miles.

He has a vert of 41 1/2 inches. Obj is 33 1/2. Best vert on the team for sure you're telling me he couldn't be utilized at ALL?

Then you picked the right team to root for because LSU seemingly has them all.

Les Miles, who then offered him a scholarship as a QB.
So either Les can't judge throwing ability or lied to get Shep to come here.
lots of HS qb's suffer that fate. .throwing against HS DB's is very different than SEC DB's... or pick any other major conference.

Absolutely not

I can't speak to this, but I do know that points are not automatically awarded to the tallest team

I don't know, ask Johnny Jones.
