Not being cruel….But If you need to ask that question…..

There is no amount of information I could give you that would make you understand.

This was Kiffin's top 25 record prior to this year.

Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss

11-24 (.314)

Not great. Plus, his defenses are historically bad.

He took a D-III quarterback and beat LSU and Oklahoma and was within 5 points of beating Georgia. That’s fricking impressive.

It's recency bias.
This season is easily the best of his career, and I would not be surprised if he loses some games he should win down the stretch.

Also he will be very expensive to pull from Ole Miss.

Because he’s brought a consistent offense to Ole Miss, had them an OT and a Kentucky game away from the playoffs last year, has them at damn near a shoe in this year, he’s young, and proven to be a top tiered coach.

Counterpoints:

- It’s not like he hasn’t had resources at Ole Miss. He (reportedly) had one of the most expensive rosters in college football last year and couldn’t get it done.

- Ole Miss goes out of their way to schedule weak opponents. Their P4/5 OOC opponents since he’s been there were: Louisville (6-7), Georgia Tech (5-7), Georgia Tech (7-6), Wake Forest (4-8), and Washington State (4-4 so far). Meanwhile Ole Miss had the second easiest SEC schedule in the league last year behind Texas (I haven’t run the SEC SOS calcs for this year). This diminishes his accomplishments IMO.

- He repeatedly makes absolutely boneheaded decisions.

- The type of contract you’d need to land Kiffin would be on par with what we were paying Kelly. Maybe you get away with a shorter duration, but it’s hard to imagine him leaving Ole Miss without a significant raise at minimum.

- He’s 29-17 (.630) in SEC play at Ole Miss. Brian Kelly was 19-10 (.655).

He’d definitely bring some excitement, and it’s safe to assume he’d give us an explosive offense. But I also think the fanbase would be fed up with his shite the first time things went south. If we end up with Kiffin I’ll support him - I want every LSU coach to succeed - but I think it’s an extremely risky hire given the money it would take.

Ole Miss is the ONLY team from the "old" SEC West that NEVER went to Atlanta for an SEC Championship. Think about that for a minute. They have been completely irrelevant.

Since Lane took over, they have completely turned things around at a school that historically has been bottom dwellers, and put together recruiting classes that have been top notch. And this year, they're in a position to compete for the SEC and National Championship.

He ain't perfect. But he's up there in the CFB ranks of coaching.

Such a weird thought process.

99.9999% of the guys that would leave their job for yours haven't "won anything" by your definition

He’s a good recruiter, has an eye for offensive talent, particularly QB’s and it would lock the offensive side of the team down for as long as he would be here. Pair him with a solid defense and all the resources LSU has and it’s easy to see him winning titles here.

Not sure why people discount this so much. Ole Miss has been a terrible program for years. They’ve been bad for 70 years and he has them competing with anyone in the SEC. Sure he hasn’t gotten over the hump but I’m inclined to believe it’s Ole Miss not him.

Well said, and exactly how I feel. He hasn't been coaching at Bama or UGA. What he's accomplished has been at Ole Miss. Compare the program when he took over, until now.

And I've never been a Lane supporter. Hated him as a coach and person when he coached at TN and USC. But he seems to have matured a bit and put his life together.

I watch him on the sidelines during the games, and he's completely bought in, talking to his QB and players as they come off the field. Celebrating. Compare that to BK, who is considered a "gentleman" and one to build a strong culture.

I'll take Kiffin's culture.

This "what has he won" statement is tired. What has anyone not named Smart or Day won? Nothing.

Lol, do yall really think LSU is a stepping stone school? We are the best job available, if he gets an offer he is going to take it. Get out here with this loser mentality

He kicked our arse with an Ole Miss team. Any further questions on what he'll do in Louisiana. Our talent doesnt get split and we have triple the state talent
