There are so many reasons. I just can’t fathom the depths of stupidity in this fanbase. It makes my head hurt.

I seems to be the type that cannot accept the situation. Keeping him on and soil our chances at future recruits and alienate players with a transfer portal just waiting for them to leave.

If he is not the future, cut ties now and try to salvage the season beat you can. Get him away from the cameras with an LSU shirt on…

Why are your protecting Woodward over the program?

The sooner the better as long as a viable top notch replacement can be had

Delay means guys like Kiffin and Jimbo are texting and calling our recruits constantly to remind them of what a shite show LSU is

Here are some legitimate reasons the firing should be executed now:

(1) If the team quits on O - and it looked like they did last night - the lack of effort could result in a series of embarrassing blowout losses that further damage the brand and erode recruiting in the long-term;

(2) A toxic environment under a lame duck coach could increase defections, transfers, opt outs, disciplinary infractions, and general discontent;

(3) Until a change is definitively made, opposing coaches will decimate LSU in recruiting with O's current reputation. Presumably, he has very little credibility with recruits already;

(4) Making a change now could infuse both the players and the fanbase with hope;

(5) Although unlikely, O could score some monumental upset or eke out a .500 record, which would make it more difficult to fire him at the end of the season and could prolong the decline of the program, especially if there is some groundswell of sentimental support for him because he is a native. A humiliating loss to a perennial cellar-dwellar like KY provides political cover for his immediate firing.

I’m okay with a Monday firing

Miles was fired by LSU on a Sunday. He was fired by Kansas on a Monday. Anything goes.

It's a timing thing. We can't turn back time and fire him yesterday.

2142 tonight would be a fitting time to announce it.

I would say the reason you fire him today is that he and his staff are now ineffective as recruiters. We cannot sell this current product to anyone but prospects that are solid to LSU no matter who the coach is.

The only reason not to fire him is if there is some residual for recruiting. Even that would be thin but if he’s getting canned anyway it’s the only reason I can think of.

I just don’t understand how dumb people can be. Like do y’all really think the hold up is because Scott Woodward is seriously thinking about keeping O next season?

It turns out that overly emotional morons like to vent on the internet. They have no capability to think rationally about this long-term. If you fire O now, you would likely tear the recruiting class to pieces, which I think is ranked No. 5. If LSU will maintain support for O through the entire season, then you can let O lock up the recruiting class and still make a move as soon as we get through the aTm game.

The new coach comes right in and immediately goes to work keeping the recruiting class together.

By November no kid that is still committed will give two fricks whether O is here or not.

How can a lame duck coach keep a recruiting class together? In fact I wouldn't put it past O to sandbag our class since he knows he's done.

There isn’t anything you said in that word soup that made any legitimate argument for keeping him other than you want to embarrass the university further by having the stadium all boo him and the team this coming Saturday. That’s a great reason

I think you fire now to send a clearer message to recruits and players rather than dragging this thing out and having them all wonder if he will be there or not.

Recruits know O will not be here next year. Firing him now only serves a purpose if the the new coach is not coaching now and can be announced asap.

Only idiots keep repeating this response. They're already doing that. They don't have to fire him to do that. Why is that a difficult concept
